So MPs are about to get a 9% pay rise, not long after they claimed the country cannot afford more than 1% for all public sector workers, including nurses and teachers.
Unbelievable. I always knew politicians were in it to fill their pockets, but this is beyond belief.
Who would you rather got a 9% rise, politicians or teachers and nurses? Who offers more to our society? Who actually provide services we need?

Then again, our MPs are pretty low paid compared to the French or the US Congressmen for instance. I know a couple of MPs and both took a drop in income to do the job. Maybe if they got paid more we'd get better ones.
MEPs on the other hand get a vast salary for doing f**k all.

As regard to the heading you might want to ask an MP.

An MP's package is pretty good by any standard, take into consideration the basic salary, expenses, perks, plenty of time away from Westminster, and a gold plated pension that most people could only dream of. All this for no particular skills whatsoever.

All this for no particular skills whatsoever. O I don't know . . . some of them were very skillful at massaging their expenses claims.

I'm sure there are some very good MPs that look after their constituents. However, I believe that most are in it for the power, perks and a career boost, for when they leave and go into a business directorship, with MP on their CV. I don't even know who my MP is, but that is my fault. The biggest concern is how 'out of touch' they all are, especially the leaders, with the general population. To even consider this rise, although proposed by others, would be an example of 'not understanding' what the majority are going through. Is it any wonder Scotland want to go their own way, although I would advise them against it... as when you take the rosy spectacles off, all power 'corrupts'... and they'll be in the same 'sh*t' as everyone else. The unrest in the world at the moment takes voters minds off the domestic situation, as we are all concerned about our safety, and that is about the only thing I trust them with... but only because they want a few more years of power. Does anything ever change?
