So after paying £200 for this thing to update the firmware there is more costs sending it back to a vender, can't just plug it into a PC? I think its a case of its there if you want it, but if you don't upgrade the device will still work as well as it does now and is still fully warrantied regardless. Some people may want the tweaks such as your own name on the screen etc and there will be a couple of more high tech options, but not having any of them will still mean that you got exactly the device you paid for - if you know what I mean. I will be having some fun with Blakeys though if he ever sends it back I'll have to get someone else to send it in for me

I was too tight to wait for the retail version (Yorkshire folk are lol) so got the cheaper beta version with the diamond pattern on the mod and a couple of menu differences like the speed it travels through the watts/volts and the arrow flip for up/down watts without going through the set up to alter....but I've got used to it now and all 5 are pre set for 1 to 1.8ohm

So whenever I have walked into BMW or Land Rover bent over ready to be shafted I still get their computers updated for nothing. Do fancy one but yes if they update to temp control I will need to post it for an update at more costs.
The cynic me is thinking these updates are sitting on a PC somewhere already...!

I bought the provari 2.5 for a similar price and there's been no update options and I'm still happy with that. Now the P3 has optional upgrades through innovation which I find most welcome for a few quid. Rather that than having to buy a P4 for get the temp control. i guess some will always find something to whinge about There is another option though, don't buy one

But still need to get to the chip to update it......nothing in my box to allow that...I doubt it will get temp control on a 20w device...might be wrong I have been before

So going to a shop for an update is Innovation in this day and age, plugging into a PC was about 10 years ago, personally today I use wifi.

If the option to upgrade at a later wasn't an option then I'd still buy it, in fact as I said I was unaware of the possibility when I did buy it so I'm simply saying it's an optional bonus in my view. I didn't think a little leg pulling would be classed as sarcastic but hey ho.

Well there was no need to state I'm whinging and tell me not to buy one, I'm new to this and just asking questions, I'm not here to bash your latest mod.
I'm kinda of learning that vaping gear is way behind in tech, fine. I'm also happy to spend my cash on a nice well built device but personally don't like the fact that after I purchase something the support for it comes at a cost and for me to go without a £200 mod why it travels through Royal Mail again. It's not the money it's the way my brain works, not good business, they should charge a little more and support their product and customers for free, like every other device I have in my house.
So for £200 I won't buy one, thanks for the advice!
Obviously all IMHO.

Another really good option I found through necessity is wrapping part of an iPad charging cable around each part, gives a really good grip if you nip the two loose ends tight on each component

If this was user updateable, it would be hacked, chips fried and all sorts. I get why it needs to go back to a shop.
Again it's all end user choice. The way provape operates is always with the best materials, the best methods and the safest end user experience. In this instance, it is getting an authorised shop to do the update for you.
If this is the sole reason you don't buy this product then you are missing out. Big time.
I have lots of mods and ive always been more of a mech guy, but the p3. Knocks them all flat on their faces.
If you want a well built mod, tested to the hilt, with no expense spared then the p3 is for you - the update is just a bonus (or negative) to an already fantastic price of kit.

Well after using the P3 for over 3 weeks now all I can say is that I am exceedingly underwhelmed with it.
Okay it may be built like a brick sh**house but the electronics are Battery Eaters.
New AW IMR batteries have an IQ of 15 and are Bad. If I use any of the Boost levels then as soon as my battery life gets below 43% the dammed things goes to empty and it is the only 18650 mod I have ever had that I have to carry at least 2 fully charged spare batteries around with me just to get me through an afternoon. Many of the batteries that I have in the P3 when they register Empty, put into another e-cig and they register fully charged.
I am now having to go through all the 18650 batteries that I have and mark those that last more than a couple of hours and keep those aside to use in the P3. Ridiculous!
Oh well, on the hunt for a VW that is more reliable.
