What are you reading at the moment?

Billy Idol - Dancing With Myself
Ordered his book and should get it early next week. What I like about it, he's written it himself, hence 6 years in the making. He was my teenage/20s/30s/ongoing crush!
Currently reading Twitchiker by Paul Smith. A frivolous read and not as exciting as it could be!

I read a lot of books, and am currently reading James Patterson's "Run for your Life".

Not read too many pages yet, seems a bit slow but I'm sure the pace will get going soon as most of Patterson's books tend to do.

I read mostly crime/detective/thriller books - can't be doing with all that love & romance stuff

I've just loaded all the Stephanie Plum books by Janet Evanovitch onto my kindle, think i'm up to book 7 of about 21? They really are hilarious, sometimes I just laugh out loud. Before that I went through all the Sookie Stackhouse by Charlaine Harris (True Blood on TV) and shes got a few other series that are excellent, Lilly Bard, Harper Connelly and Aurora Teagarden.

I watch stuff all the time and wonder if they are based on books, and many are! that way I've found some great books I love, like Bones (TV) books by Kathy Reichs and Murdock Mysteries TV (7 books by Maureen Jennings)

I don't read many books but listen to quite a few when in the car and have recently finished The Martian by Andy Weir which was AMAZING, I'd thoroughly recommend it. It even made me late for a few appointments as I just could not get out of the car sometimes as it was THAT gripping!"
Also recently listened to all the Mazerunner Series by James Dashner a bit "teenagerish" but not too bad though a poorish ending IMO.
Also listened to the Hunger Games Series and am considering A Song of Ice & fire but I like the TV series Game of Thrones too much and don't want to ruin that.

Listened to the Patrick O'Brian Master & Commander series (20.5 books) several times paulymeatballs, only he can have lines like "Jack, you have debouched my sloth!". I love his use of period language and depth of detail.

DiscoDes listened to all 5 Song Fire of Ice 2 or 3 times, he's writing isn't what I would class as literature, I find it can get repetitive and spends a lot of time with descriptions that could be cut. But if you like the series you will probably enjoy it and the detail of story starts to diverge quite a bit in the later books.

Great dark detective stories with an underlying sense of humour. Best read in chronological order.

Just starting a song of ice & fire series by George R R Martin. My brother just finished them so I have pinched them.

Just finished perfect people by Peter James. And fast-paced and exciting read with an interesting perspective on designer babies with a bit of a sci-fi twist into a book based closely to reality. The ending is a touch quick but a very enjoyable read none the less.

Will have to look at some of these other authors you all reccomend.

I normally have something crime/thriller/action on the go as well as something comical and or informative with my favourite authors being Patterson, James, Grisham, Rice & Bryson.

+1 for Stuart McBride
The Logan Mcrae ones have a fantastic humour about them
Not long finished reading Halfhead by the same author - not bad for a sci fi one 
Kind of going off Peter James a bit now but a good series of books non the less.

I'm also with DiscoDes on the Hunger Games trilogy - I basically stayed awake for days to complete them. I was actually slightly embarrassed to find they were aimed at the teen market! But a superb read. If given the choice I prefer to read the books before seeing the TV/Film. Mind you my all time favourite book is The Hobbit and that's supposed to be a childrens book....
