Thanks for the recommendation VapingBad I shall look him up I have to say that my love of reading has been 'rekindled' since I bought a kindle! I do plow through books at an alarming rate and I find an ereader far easier to manage nowadays. That and a certain amount of illegal downloads keeps me keen Illegal downloads for your Kindle, why? I get all mine free from Amazon delivered straight to my Kindle on a daily basis, must have about 25 in my library, I have read some authors I have never heard of and the books have been very enjoyable. info@bookbub.

Ohhh - nice thread I'm currently reading Matthew Pearl's The Technologist www.goodreads.com/book/show/11936279-the-technologists and rather enjoying it. I absolutely loved his The Dante Club (which I bought having thought it was by the same author of Ian Pear's Instance of the Fingerpost - a lucky accident) Prior to that it was C by Tom McCarthy www.goodreads.com/book/show/7465814-c which I finished more out of perseverance than enjoyment. Prior to that it was the first two of the Stephen Baxter / Terry Pratchett series starting with The Long Earth. www.goodreads.com/book/show/13147230-the-long-earthNext up is the second of Jeff VanderMeer's Southern Reach Trilogy: Authority www.goodreads.com/book/show/18077769-authority (and I'm really looking forward to this) I too have moved over to an e-reader. In my case it's a Kobo Glow and I really like it (although it and it's case are perhaps a little too heavy) - I chose it because it's easy to load books onto. I buy most from Amazon (and strip DRM out of it using an Calibre plug-in). When I was given it, I had a long `too be read` fiction shelf and went off raiding naughty places to find electronic copies and I continue to do this when I'm given a hard copy (I then donate the hard copy to my charity shop of choice).

I'm loathe to use an ereader. The thought of giving up my 'real' books breaks my heart. I have a wall of keepers which I am trying to find a future home for as a job lot. Otherwise I'll have to have a coffin for me and a coffin for my beloved books and go up in smoke together. Some I've had from a kid, others are full sets and some are really hard to get hold of

I like a physical book, I would never get the enjoyment from a kindle etc.
I like to turn pages I guess, I don't know, I just know for me it has to be a physical book.
I have a good friend who is an author, her writing name ( rather than married name ) is Susan Hill - she wrote The Woman in Black, plus many other good reads if anyone would like to check her out.

I've recently started a book by James Herbert titled "Nobody True". Tis a weird one this is, it's about a guy who often took himself away on 'out of body' experiences, then one day when he came back to get inside his body he found he'd been killed so he couldn't get back in and was sort of stuck in no man's land. Right at the beginning of the book it says "I wasn't there when I died" Don't know yet what happens from here on as I need to get reading the rest of it I've read a few of his, The Rats was probably one of his best. I was shocked when he died last year .
This is the first book of his I've read. Oh dear he's not around anymore then - R.I.P James - at least his books can still give some enjoyment even though he's left this world behind.
