Always keep your formers in your coils until you have arranged the bends in the legs and tightened the screws.

*-SARIN-* thank you so much for your advice, I shall certainly attempt to do as per your instructions, when I have emptied (vaped) the tank out. Should I reduce my nic content on this Orchid, as I normally vape with other atty`s around 16 -18 mg.

*-SARIN-*- thanks for the post, most useful!! I'll try to catch up with you over the Christmas period and have a go re-coiling the Orchid with your watchful eyes on me, if that would be OK. Got mine going eventually, but I think there is too much wick in there, as it's flooding quite disastrously. At least the coils are heating almost simultaneously so I've got that bit right!

Right, something that i have noticed happens if you top fill the Orchid is that the chimney can come undone (it unscrews when you unscrew the top cap) when you refill. So every time i refill using the top cap method i just make sure that the chimney is screwed down tight. If the chimneys undone then it WILL leak. Another issue causing flooding would be NOT enough wick in the CHANNELS. I'll catch up with you over the Xmas period, prob go Beacon on Thurs afternoon if you're around.

got an orchid V6 now and have 2 V4's
V6 Don't leak, glass tank, raised air holes so no dribbles, fills fine with the glass/seal ring sort of in way, airflow nice for me but think the little grub screws will need PTFE to keep in place.
But: for the watts I vape at and the wire I have to use the guillotine posts cut to often before I can get a good clamp. Tried NI200 twice, kanthal aiming for 1.3ohms for my mechs twice, got needle files out, changed screws, doubled back on myself but to no avail. got my thickest wire out 26g I think and just built something in the end with that, no cutting clamped nice and tight but i'm at .35 ohms ( you high watts sub ohm guys have it easy coiling..! ) so no temp control and no mechs for me.
Orchids (well fastech clones) have defeated me for now which is a shame because they are such forgiving atty's for the watts I vape at, once the bloody coils are clamped in.........

Brandon from Evolv suggested putting a bit of big Kanthal under the Ni in through terminals, I looked at doing that in the Orchid with 0.5 mm but it looked even fiddler so didn't try. I have had 3 goes with the Orchid and found I wasn't making big enough coils, the latest is twisted 3 strands of 0.16 mm on a 2.5 mm former, 12 wraps, Rayon wicks, 0.13 ? and vaping at 410-420° F. Before I had use fewer wraps (using 2 strand 0.16 mm twisted) and it wanted to get too hot to work well, I also think the 3 strand twisted copes better with the rubbish terminals on the Orchid clone.
