AW are well thought of. EFEST on the other hand are not I really must get around to doing a battery safety thread.. way too many overstated labels!

They used to be Dan ??? has something changed? It really is so hard to keep up with things now Problem is that they've got greedy and so they've been overstating the capabilities of their cells. Especially the purple 18650s. The 2500mah 18650 is marketed as a 35amp cell. In reality though it's an LG HE2 cell which is only capable of 20amp continous. The 35amp is the pulse rating. The worst though is the 3100mah 20amp cell. They're actually a Panasonic cell which is rated at 4.5amp continuous and 6.4amp pulse.

I'm with Dan on this one, Efest just repackage batteries and have got greedy over this last year or so. They are also making choosing batteries more confusing for the section of the market that needs the most info sub-ohmers. They have aimed the purple batteries at them, but put misleading specs on them and recently added a high capacity battery that is completely unsuitable. I have not got good life out of half the red ones I own and would stick to Sony, Panasonic, Samsung and AW, some other brands are fine, but just need a little research before buying.

Steam engine has a great battery drain section www.steam-engine.org/batt.aspthe drop down has a lot of presets with battery limits on there (Efest are re-wraps - best to buy something where it says what you have on the tin). My choices are sony vtc4s and/or aw imr dont scrimp on batts!

If we can't trust the labels, how can we decide if they are indeed safe for what we want them for? True Dan but like I said it depends on application. If I use a regulated mod that has a 5a limit then Efests will be fine. But you need the knowledge of the application which all don't necessarily have.

Glad I read this batteries discussion, I need new ones for my Segelei ZMax . It has not been used much as the batteries are not very good; Efest 2000mAH 3.7v lI-Mn V2 B.i.O They are the red ones. with the raised top, can't remember if they protected or not. I would like to buy Sony but unsure which are the correct ones for me, any links please?

Just a cautionary note I have now read on 2 other forums about the Sony VTC5s that UkECigStore have may be fakes, I'm not saying they are, but I would wait for confirmation one way or the other before getting these. For a ZMax if you are sure you are not going to get a more powerful mod it the next year or two I would think the 2900 mAh Panasonics would be good value @ £12.19 delivered, I don't know if Zmaxes prefer flat top or button top maybe lairey knows. The red Efests are not protected.
