My housemate went to the local sainsburys here at 8 am after work, she picked up a 32" HD TV with built in freeview for £89 a bargain, apparantly it wasn't that busy.

Just seen more footage of the madness, and one in particular where customers ripped the wrapping off a pallet of TVs. Suggest they be hired, because, at that speed, they would probably double the productivity of the store. Also, in response to police complaints about inadequate security, the store bosses reply was 'we didn't expect that demand'... so did they plan for failure, don't think so, security costs money.

I'm going into work for a few hours this morning to handle the Black Friday fall out on our John Lewis Click & Collect system . . . hopefully it will be as civilized and I won't be assaulted by various Fruit & Vegetables.

Do you mean Tech Support Perpetua or are you in store? My SIL works at JL, she was managing the new Exeter store when it first opened after being in Bristol for lots of years.

Black Friday has something originally to do with the selling of slaves (can't recall what though) Am all in favour of Thanksgiving.....no probs with that. Independence day? Ask me another question But me? Nope I appreciated the gentle reminder from @ukflavours to order blackberry. Broke a covenant and got some bargains from TW. Bought a greggsnut for a social worker changing jobs and a sandwich from the corner shop. Madness? What madness? I'm sane this morning LOL

In store, for Waitrose now katiekoo . . . believe me I should not be allowed to go nowhere near anything technical! Wonder if I actually might know your SIL as I worked for JL in the department stores for 16 years - although the Bristol years were in Broadmead, never made it to Cribbs. It would be a small world if I did!

I agree tis only a bargain if you need it.... For example right now I need choc - it's 35p at the shop across the road for 100g and it's german. I got it better than paying 60p for 20g I rest my simple - head bust - bad day -case
