Hi guys, Flippin' 'eck!!! I didn't know you needed a PhD in thermo nuclear physics to understand all this jargon! You all seem so knowledgeable! But first - how rude of me - my name's Mike - but it all seems a little overwhelming at the minute! Ok ... been smoking about 20/day for about 40 years and really want to stop but am sooooooooo scared (know what I mean?). Been on RYO for the past 5 years or so and I'd be grateful for some help in choosing what to buy. I've done most of my research at united-kingdom.info-electronic-cigarette.com and I've narrowed down my choices to either an E-Go Electronic Cigarette or a Personal Vaporiser ... but which one??? Actually the website I've just mentioned seems to sort of use different terminology so I hope I don't confuse anyone more than I've confused myself! Obviously I want the cheapest I can get BUT so long as it hits the spot. Having read a number of threads, I'm kinda leaning towards the EVod 2 Starter Kit but I can't see the difference between the EVod 2 Starter Kit and the EVod Starter Kit. They look the same to me - can anyone tell me what the difference is please? Secondly, I think I have to buy the juice separately (am I right?) - can someone please suggest a juice that might give me an Amber Leaf sort of effect? I'm the sort of guy that usually spends weeks and weeks researching before I buy a product but to be honest, it's all starting to really do my head in and I just want to plunge in and get on with it! Oh and lastly - is it cheaper than RYO? I've managed to get down to 50g Amber Leaf a week and eek out between 15 -20 a day depending on how fearful I am about "wasting" my money. But do you guys find it cheaper, more expensive or about the same? Thanks in advance for any help which will be greatly appreciated! Regards, Mike (The Forum Thicko)!

Also been looking at the Eleaf Istick but it's like smoking a box - is that right or am I missing something (told you I'm thick)!?

H i@mikemichelle, to AAEC, a good choice may I add. I am also reasonably new to all this, from my limited experience, the evod starter kit is single coil, the evod 2 is a dual coil atomiser, however, i feel sure a more experienced member will give you all the information you require, as has been said many times before, the only stupid question is the one you don't ask.

Lots of ways you can reduce costs mikemichelle but you'll learn that over time... First things first - basic start up kit. either the evod or the evod 2. I'd personally go for the cheaper one. And remember 2 batteries (one to have on charge whilst you are using the other one) They seem to be the choices you have made - one or the other.... Now you have to choose strength of juice and flavours of juice (mixing your own is the cheapest way but that can wait). Perpetua's links are excellent. Great, good priced vendor. Good on delivery too Other's can advise on where to get e-liquid from. Make sure whatever you go for you have some spare heads when the evod doesn't taste right (burn taste or just not tasting 'right'). How long a head lasts depends on the individual. Keep any evod heads you use that you can't vape and we can teach you how to recoil later (I have never done this with a dual coil head) and that will further save costs though it's fiddly and takes a while to learn. If you have problems with your hands or your eyesight tis not recommended. So there you have it..... Step 1Get the evod kit from myepack and some e-liquid and start vaping Step 2 Start mixing your own and/or making your own heads Sorted:)

Hi mikemichelleNow, please hold your horses and your credit card just for a while. That website you have been looking at "The Best Electronic Cigarette" is a bogus website. It is a shill to sell you overpriced products. This person who runs it ("My name is E-Cig Twigg") has teamed up with the biggest rip-offs in the business. He makes money from getting you to click on and buy products you do not want to be buying. If it's on there... do not buy it. PS. I smoked roll ups for 20 years and can confirm that long term, you will save lots of money. At first, you might need to splash out a bit, but it'll pay you back very soon. Good luck. - - - Can somebody call the men in white coats for me please?

Thanks for all the replies so far guys. You are really helping me to "un-do" my head (as opposed to doing it in)! Great forum and great bunch of people!

Angie & I started with an Evod kit. Neither of us have wanted a fag since.
Do I recommend the same to friends who want to start vaping? No because there is much better stuff available now.
I now suggest Nautilus Mini tanks on either an Eleaf iStick or an Aspire CF battery.
A common problem with basic kits is that over tightening the tank to the battery pushes the pin down on the battery. The Nautilus Mini & the CF battery have springs fitted to the pins which prevents that problem.
Another problem we had with the basic kits was battery life. The batteries aren't big enough. The iStick has 3 times the battery capacity of the batteries we started with.
Is it cheaper? Yes if you want it to be.
Is it cheaper for Angie? It's bloody near free. I never used to buy her fags but I maintain her stuff and make her liquids for nowt. Is it cheaper for me? No way but I bought my baccy abroad. She says I'm obsessed with vaping. I say it's just a hobby.
Then we come to what liquid to get. Like you I wanted to replicate my smoking experience - RYO Gauloises. Tried several for 2 weeks and started to make my own liquids. I haven't vaped tobacco flavours since then but do make some tobacco liquids for a friend. If you do start vaping and want to try some 'home brew' liquids send me a PM and I'll send you a couple of bottles.
What strength liquid will you need. We both started at 24mg and moved to 18mg after about 5 months.
Good luck.

Most people want to hit me with a large object, usually... depending on what horrors they have bought... Pepperty knows her stuff and she won't bamboozle a new comer. Not now she has a degree in ecig-ology. Perpetua is the Queen of shopping. She has Ninja status. I tend to rant and the others try to calm me down. We look after each other.

Hello and mikemichelle to the best vaping forum (indeed the best forum) for advice in the known (and unknown) universe. I've been a member since the end of September and I've had a lot of help and support on here with all kinds of technical issues, purchasing decisions and lately help on Mixing my own liquids. Don't be afraid to ask a question even if you think it's daft. Everybody on here wants to help.

Hi and welcome 0@mikemichelle. You picked a good pair of kits there. Persoinally, I'd spend an extra £2-£3 to get the Evod glass kit. 2x tanks, 2x batteries and a bunch of spare heads to get you going. MyEpack do them for £34.99 hereAs for juices, the mrs and me started on juice from MrECig and juicejoose. Both these sites offer e liquid very cheap. And juicejoose send a second 30ml bottle free with every 30ml bottle ordered. Using these kits, the wife and me spent about £3-£4 a week on juice, cheaper than a days smokes. If you want, we have some juices here not to our taste, just pm me your address and what kind of flavours you are interested in and we'll send you some to try out. Better someone uses them than they sit unused in our cupboard.

Heyas and welcome to the nuthouse. mikemichelleThis is the best forum with incredible members that will help you get started in your vapeing journey. Plenty of brilliant advice has been given so I'll just say hi Argg nah I'll offer up some info The nautilus tank and istick would be a brilliant combo to get you going. Yes the initial cost it a little higher but the benefits outweigh that IMO. Istick battery will last a full day of vapeing no problem. The nautilus coils will each last 2-3 weeks depending on use and juice type. Joosejuice is a great place to start but also www.onepoundeliquid.com is very good and cheap. Their black tobacco is very good + UK made. You will find it very hard to match what you smoked so sometimes its worth going completely away from tobacco and trying something totally different. Do you have a favourite fruit , sweet , cake , drink?
