The capacity of the tank is important in that if you vape a lot you will get through more liquid. The mini protank will sit flush non your battery, giving a nice profile, but you might need to take a bottle of liquid out with you to top up as and when. A bigger atomiser will hold more liquid but looks a bit strange on that sort of battery, swings and roundabouts!

In simple terms an evod starter kit will contain 1 or 2 batteries along with evod atomisers (they hold liquid). The mini protank 3 is another type of atomiser that will fit on the supplied battery. Don't want to sound condescending, hope this helps, regards, Paul. Thanks Paul and prr! Just what I needed to know! Does it make much difference what capacity it is eg 1.5ml or 3.0ml? Depends how much you vape. I like 2-3ml tanks. I find 5ml tanks too top heavy.... Doesn't make any difference to performance. Just depends how often you want to be topping up

Welcome mikemichelle. I started on the e-cigs about 2 months ago and have now 'progressed' to a mini protank 3, etc... I didn't think I could give up the stinkies after @40 years on them, but, so far, it has worked. YOU CAN DO IT.

Once again guys thanks for all the advice and encouragement! I'm going "live" with my first try on EVOD 2 on Saturday morning - I have to psych myself up to do this! I'm feeling very nervous and apprehensive but if all you long-term smokers can do it then I don't see why I shouldn't succeed also. It's so daft but I'm getting myself worked up in such a state about this!

You'll be fine, mikemichelle, just make sure you put it together properly, and fill the tank correctly, relax, and enjoy

Have a ciggie while your setting your new gear up then dual fuel for a while until it all starts to fall into place

I smoked like a chimney before, during and after first receiving my kit mikemichelle, so you won't be the first to be in a state of agitation when starting out! As much as anything thinking back, I was afraid of letting go of smoking/cigarettes, they'd been my comfort blanket for so long. But little by little I realized that ecigs & vaping weren't just as good, but considerably better than sparking up. It didn't happen overnight for me though, I had to accept that not smoking wasn't such a great loss after all. So don't expect too much of yourself at first . . . .

I smoked 25 a day for 30 years mikemichelle and decided to try vaping on a whim before I found this forum. From the day I received my not so cheap nasty starter kit ive never had or wanted a ciggy and that's now just over a year. My wife smoked the same amount and started at the same time. It took her about 2 months to switch completely reducing the cigs to zero over that time. So everyone is different and I'm sure it's a case of overcoming the fears of the mind rather than anything else. Why wait until Saturday ? I'd say try it straight away and see how you go, if you still fancy a ciggy have one. If you have any teething issues with your kit just shout out, there'll always be someone around to help you out. As they say "suck it and see " you might just surprise yourself

I didn't, lot of people don't.

I didn't either. I dual fueled for 3 months and even when I went 100% vaping I still had my comforter - the nasal spray for 3 months
Really it's down to you how you do this. If you want a regular cigarette have one. No one on here is going to crucify you for it!

TRANQUILITY BASE HERE ... THE EVOD HAS LANDED!!! I hope that 20th December 2014 will go down in history as the day I STOPPED SMOKING!!! This morning I set up my EVOD 2 with a mini protank 3 on top, filled it with some e-liquid that two incredibly generous guys on the forum sent me to help me get started (thanks guys). First impressions were quite good although I had to adopt a new inhalation technique compared to conventional smoking. If I tried to inhale the old way, I got hardly anything out of the EVOD. I discovered that you had to inhale quite strongly and hard(ish) and longer straight into the lungs as opposed to drawing into the mouth and then inhaling. This way I got a good throat hit and quite a lot of vapour. On the positive side, I got a good old fashioned bit of a "light head" (which I like) which hasn't happened for many years (like when I first started smoking). Obviously, I have got to try quite a few different e-liquids to find the right ones for me. I've started with "Amber Blend" which is a home brew e-liquid that I got sent. At the moment, I'm keen to try e-liquids that closely resemble the "smoking experience". Who knows what others I might try but I want to stick with "tobacco flavours" to start with. I guess I'd give the EVOD 2/mini protank 3 a 7 out of 10 and the vape experience a 7 out of 10 also so far. After trying a few tobacco falvours, I think I'll try some menthol flavours next. My instinct so far is that I might be better off with a bit more power and am checking out the EVOD Twist Variable Voltage 1600 MAH. I just feel that the EVOD 2 is a tad under-powered for my tastes but I could be wrong. I am so grateful to all you guys in this fabulous forum for all the wonderful help, support and advice. I couldn't do this with out you. I'm off to a positive start and hopefully things will get better. I'll stick with the EVOD 2 for a couple of months, maybe upgrade to the EVOD Twist Variable Voltage 1600 MAH and also maybe the Eleaf Istick and Nautilus Mini tank for the future. I want something more powerful and longer lasting for use at home and will probably use the EVOD 2 (or EVOD Twist Variable Voltage 1600 MAH) when out and about. Last impressions: I would have preferred a bit more "resistance" when "sucking" so that I could vape more like the conventional smoking technique and experience. I guess that's a difference that I'll have to learn to accept as clearly vaping is a different technique to smoking. One again guys ... A HUGE THANK YOU TO ALL!!!

Forgot to ask about coils. I guess it's a "how long is a piece of string" type question and depends on a number of variables. But is it possible to have a "back of a fag packet" answer to: "How long, on average, does a coil last"?

But is it possible to have a "back of a fag packet" answer to: "How long, on average, does a coil last"?1-2 weeks. Depends on the liquid, sweet dessert flavours one week, menthol longer. The flavour of the vape will become muted, for me it is that wall paper paste smell/taste. You will know
