On the matter of coils, I think a lot of you guys use Virtual Vape Unicoil. My question is what makes this coil so special and why can't we make our own unicoil (seeing as many people make their own coils)? Is it some sort of special wire? Why does it last longer than "standard " home made coils? The thing with the Virtual Vape Unicoil is that jonco ( the builder) has hit the nail bang on the head. They work brilliant from the moment they land on your doorstep (they come prewicked with cotton) and are sturdy enough to be be rewicked at least 10 times. How much does 10 heads cost? i was doubtful myself until I witnessed just how good they really were

There's surely got to be something special about them at £4.49 each!

Homemade micro coils are the same, I think the excitement is probably about how long they last over shop bought coils making them excellent value.
Although some tank manufacturers are now producing better tasting and longer lasting coils (at a premium) especially in the last 3 months.
I think if you learn to coil and mix eliquid it opens up a lot options. Plenty of knowledge and help available on here to guide you if needed.

If you make/buy a decent microcoil and look after it they last months not weeks. Make you sure you dry burn them to clear the gunk off the coil and be gentle when changing the wick and they just keep trucking.

Thanks for that dreamylittledream, The thing I'm still struggling to understand is how does one make a decent microcoil and how does Virtual Vape's Unicoil differ from the Kanger coils that many on here make themselves? I haven't tried making my own yet but have got all the gear ready and will probably have a go this week. Back to Virtual Vape's Unicoil ... what makes them so good that they cost £4.49 each? Is it anything to do with the materials they use? I'd be quite happy to pay £4.49 for a coil that could possibly last months but I just want to understand what makes them different?

Nothing makes them different, they are just a standard Microcoil but made very well with standard A1 kanthal I believe and if I remember correctly it's 0.28 kanthal. You can make the same microcoils yourself for pennies. But here's the rub, some people struggle to make their own coils for various reasons be it a medical complaint such as arthritis or just a case of being all fingers and thumbs. At the end of the day the uni coils are made as part of a business, I hear they are very good, not that I've used them but like any business it needs to put food on the table. It's little different to buying 5 coil heads for say a Protank for £10 or making your own microcoils for 10p ish and fitting them in an old kanger head although in this case the latter will be much better. so the answer is, do you want to pay for someone to provide ready to go heads or faff around making your own. I chose the latter, others prefer not to make their own for whatever reason. the choice is yours

The only difference is they use a combination of no res - res - no res wire to make up the coil, many seem to have good results just using std res wire though.

resistance / no resistance
Basically means the actual coil can be made bigger for the same ohms using the same size wire & because the legs of the coil don't get hot there's less chance of a burning taste from the insulator in the base of the atomizer.

Aaaah ...I see!! Still on the subject of coils, I'm having a look over on FT for ready made coils (another possible option I'm considering). I want to use them in a Kanger EMOW and Mini Protank 3. I understand the difference between RDA and RBA and so far, I can only find ready made coils for RDAs. Can anyone supply a link on FT for ready made coils suitable for my Kangers? Many thanks in advance. No worries found what I'm looking for!

Hi iv only been on the e cig a week but I have to say I'm shocked at how well I'm doing , I smoke roll ups all day and if I wake up in the night I have one and I love smoking I like the taste everything but my breathing is terrible and its just simply so bad for me BOO !!! I started cutting down a lot using both at first I didn't realise you have to take more of a slow drag on the ecig and didn't get the hit I needed but once I used it correctly it worked brilliant ( yes I was shocked ) I now haven't had a fag for a week and I'm actually doing well not pulling my hair out yet though for me iv found the eliquid is the key if I just vape ejuice with no tobacco taste at all I grave more so iv found using a sweet tobacco helps me loads , though if you do want that tobacco taste I'd recommend asking around for a realistic one as some iv tried are terrible and don't resemble tobacco at all, now if I can get this far I'm sure you have a very good chance of kicking it just have a good play with the e cig first and get used to using it ,good luck ?????

Hi @yavape, It only took me 9 days to make the complete transition from stinkies to vaping! I woke up on the 9th morning and actually "craved " for my Kanger EVOD and not the rollies! I couldn't really believe how quick the process was and NEVER EVER thought I could give up the stinkies! I'm loving some of the tobaccos at Liquid, particularly British and Premium. And for £1 a bottle it's a great price! What I love about this forum is all the really hardened, long-term smokers who have managed the transition to vaping. And for me personally, I couldn't have done it without all the help, advice and support of a great bunch of guys in this forum! Onwards and upwards!!!
