Agghhhh
So, I have a nasty feeling that what's happened is that the air control grub screw was protruding slightly and worked outwards a little more and / or I've overtightened.
I've put a narrow bar into the air hole to provide leverage against marigolds on the top cap (so I'm pretty sure it's a mechanical not friction lock)
Not enough room for dental floss to get between the two to attempt to tighten the screw...
Short of sourcing a new base from FT, any thoughts?

Does your Stingray have a pin you can back off/pull out? Have locked a few together and found removing the pin helps. If its the air control/grub screw bitten in, can only think of brute force, then replace the goosed bit. Got both kayfun base and stingray top caps at FT

No pin that I can extract. It will turn about 1/32th then stop. I reckon top fill and recoil with multimeter until it becomes gummed up, at which point recycle. Order on Fasttech placed, cancelled (added wrong hybrid adapter) , placed again without using refund gift cert....

Could be stuck! Stingray top cap has cut outs, fill or air screw catching? Brute force and hope only one bit gets mangled

Can you wiggle the terminal that attaches to the pin on top of the deck? You might be able to get some movement there.
Is your stingray pin flat headed on the base? Any way you can get something between the pin and delrin and loosen it here?
If that doesn't work, try putting it in the freezer for an hour, then brute force it.

I'm pretty much certain that it's grub screw for the air control that's slipped out... I'd just gone through the ultrasonic cycles so I reckon everything was a bit too clean...
I have play on the top pin - oh - I wrote 1/32th... that's silly.. it's closer to 1/16th (it feels like, oddly not 1/8th).
Tried the freezer - didn't help... I think my only other path at this point is to find something extremely thin yet has enough of an edge to give friction and see if I can slip it between the top cap of the Stingray and the side of the grub screw and hope dragging it (in the right direction) whilst upsidedown will bring the screw a little closer to the base. What though, I'm not sure... 60g paper is too wide. Time and then FT it shall be, I suspect.
Thanks for the thoughts, folks.

I have some micro thin saw blade for my jewelers saw ( hair thickness ) If all else fails I could try to slid between and cut the grubscrew These are about 0.10 mm thick
