I put my foot down a couple of years back, none of us really enjoy turkey. I'd have gone for chicken but we have that most Sundays so want something different for the xmas dinner Turkey was OK on the day and I didn't mind turkey sandwiches for supper...but after that I hated trying to use it up. So now we have beef, and a smaller joint that'll do the roast, then the sandwiches and its basically used up then.. plus everyone likes yorkies with a roast! I also do a ham, get a big fresh one, cut into 3 and have one at xmas, new year etc. I make a meal of it and then leftovers for few days, blah blah etc. Cold turkey and fried up mash and veg leftovers with pickles, best food over Chrimbo for me, that's why we order the biggest Turkey in the world for two of us

We had Coquille St Jacques to start followed by potted shrimps, dressed crab and cockles for main with salad and home cooked bread, then traditional Crimbo pudding for desert.

Interesting to see that the vegetarian choice is joint 2nd When I fully converted to a vegetarian diet over 30 years ago, it was almost as rare as converting to vaping over 6 years ago

Roast pork, roast potatoes, roast parsnips, red cabbage & apple <something>, cheese sauce. Far too much of everything. Eaten two hours ago, only just getting to a point where I might consider nuking the xmas pud...

So, nobody had a curry for Xmas dinner? Might end up having chicken rogan tomorrow, there's a lot of cooked chook left in the fridge Oh and don't forget the sprouts. www.eyegas.com/sproutifarts/

We had roast beef, roast tatties, honey-glazed parsnips, sprouts, cabbage, carrots and yorkshires, with loads of gravy. Then choice of dessert, cheesecake, minced pie (a biggun!) and pavlova, which has almost all gone Cold beef and oven chips for tea tonight, and finish off the desserts I think! Nom!

Bucket, davetherayon? Bucket!? No, one of those plastic trugs that builders and kayakers use for their rubble/cement mixing/wet kit - we have far too many of these around the estate, borrowed one from a gamekeeper for the day!!

No roast for me this year When the children came back from being with their dad we had sausage rolls and ramekins. Then for our main meal we had meat fondu so all I had to do was cut up the meat, make garlic potatoes and lay the table. Everyone cooked their own beef, chicken, pork, smoked sausage and chipolatas themselves.
