Yes, I think you would get on better with a cartomiser. Any that have a 510 fitting will work OK on your ego/Riva. Though it's best to avoid the very low resistance Dual Coils. My favpourites are the Boge LR cartomisers.

Hi Thanks for the replies - it came with an atomiser. Would I be better off with a cartomiser as seen lots of people talking about them? If so which one would be compatible with my Ego Riva 510? It can all get very confusing!! I could end up spending a fortune!! My preference is the kanger standard resistance atomiser, good vapour and taste without taking too much out of the battery, one will last between 3 - 7 days depending how you vape and how fussy you are I generally run them for 4 - 7 days then bin. Others rave about the Boge catromisers though in my opinion there's not much between them, they have a similar lifespan.

Just to update ....I put all my smoking paraphernalia out of sight as soon as my Riva kit arrived and I'm now 2 weeks, 4 days without my rollies. I have been smoking for 35 years and knew that vaping and smoking wouldn't have worked for me. So, I had to stop smoking completely and my family and friends are amazed. I can't balance the Riva on my bottom lip, (that post did make me laugh) ...but I'm sucking on my Riva like a dummy, it's always in my mouth and I'm wearing the gold banding away. The main thing is that I'm still off the rollies. so I think I'll up the nicotine level from medium to a higher one. Thanks again to everyone for their comments - I have really appreciated them and found them invaluable and have re-read them many times for encouragement. It's great to see how friendly and helpful everyone is here to newbies, so Well Done to everyone, what a lovely bunch of people here..

Thanks everyone, I know other people's posts have encouraged me to give up the 'nasties', so I hope mine will as well. I'm now looking for advice on replacing my atomisers, but as the price varies between venders, it got me thinking, whether the 'Boge' cartomisers are a 'brand' or 'type'. If they are a brand they should be similar price and quality between the different venders, but if they are a generic type, made by various manufacturers, then the quality/price can vary. With atomisers I'm guessing they are the latter, so the performance would differ. Unless the UK venders are purchasing them from the same group of manufacturers abroad. I know e-juice can differ between venders, but do you folk find this is the case with atomisers? Thanks

Boge cartomisers are a brand & made by Bogetech. Cartomisers (in general) are far cheaper than atomisers as they are meant to be disposable, but can last anything from a few days to a few weeks.

Thanks Chrissie, I'm reading as much as I can and looking at various vids, but still learning. I do like the Boge cartomisers, but would like to buy some more atomisers that I'll use specifically just for dripping, because I found some juices hang around in the cartomisers and I'd like to try difference juices out. Also I also bought another Riva for my son, who has also not smoked for the past week and he wants to stick with using the atomisers solely for cartridge use. So, would you recommend different types of atomisers for each of us. Sorry to be a pain, I did try googling 'Atomisers for Dummies'..

You aren't being a pain at all Tourmaline Your Riva's take any 510 atomiser from any vendor & they are fine for both dripping & using with cartridges. However, if you wanted to try a 901 atomiser (my favourite for dripping) you would need to buy a 510-901 adapter.
