Rushed home just to check out the Waidea & I gotta give them credit. They did a great job on it! The finish is spot on and the body appears to be milled & not cast. The larger Buttons are way better than on kangin
Damped's extreme close-up of the battery tube had really thrown me off because I had expected to see the positive pin on a flat board mounted on the Sled but it did not appear that way to me when I looked at the pic, but now that I have the unit in my hand it is exactly the way I thought it would have been. The lighting reflection in the pic had thrown me off, but he did a great job nonetheless because that was an impossible pic to take.
I haven't timed delays or anything but from general use, I'm thinking it provides a warmer, more consistent vape than kangxin at same temp setting & is definitely not hitting TP as quickly.
Subtank is definitely sitting high on the 510, but it is working very well. The flask did read the resistance at 0.16 instead of 0.15 and has not refined down to 0.15 like my kangxin would have by now, but that doesn't concern me. Still playing with it so haven't let it cool down to room temp to do a new coil read & see if it gets it right then.
Works on a single battery from each tube & caps definitely line up, but do protrude from flush slightly.
So far, I'm very pleased!

The fixed 510 is a bit of a disappointment for me as is what seems to be a bit of a delay to full power, Focals Kayfun V4 will not fire on it with it`s slightly shorter 510. It will of course with a 510 adapter. I can see problems in the not too distant future with poor connections with a nickel coiled dripper etc which will totally throw the mod on temp control. Will be doing a proper review tomorrow after some more use of it.

It has been determined by disassembly that Kangxin and Waidea use the same ChiNA40 Board / Chip - RAYN V3 The Pic above was taken by Dwcraig1 of the Chip he removed from a failed Kangxin. The Pic above was taken by WierdWillie of the Waidea he recently disassembled.

Willie also posted a pic of the underside of the 510 assembly - Notice the ground wire! Willie was able to install the spring loaded centerpin core from a Fat Daddy Vapes V4 into the 510. His pics are here WierdWillie Pics

You are going to have to help me out here, what does that prove tpat591?. What is that chip designed to do? Which chip holds the firmware?

In the top pic of what was torn out of the Kangxinn, the Board on the left is the USB charger Balance Board & the one on the right is the DNA40 Clone chip. Apparently the only difference between the flasks electronically is the firmware versions.

I dont have a problem with that, it works. The difference in firmware is vital to how the mods work.

Agreed, but it seems both companies are buying the chips from the same supplier who is just modifying easily changeable parameters in the chips firmware as needed and requested by each company when the order is placed so they can each appear to have their own unique characteristics which include splash screen, delay from sleep to fire, sleep mode1, sleep mode 2, etc......

Good news on the 510, looks like the internals of a FDV 510 will screw right inside the existing outer barrel Waidea uses, which would give you a spring-loaded 510 and you could retain the attractive external top plate. Also looks like it's a standard ~10mm diameter 510, so you could use any 510 of your choice easily enough. And unlike the Kangxin flask, there's ample room for a longer 510. www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/temperature-control/648907-vapor-flask-v3-dna40-clone-thread-243.html#post15635545EDIT: Tpat beat me to it. This board software doesn't refresh properly with the page open already. Didn't see any posts after Robby's initial impressions until I hit post.

Pity SMOK didn`t use it in the M80plus I am not very experienced in the IC side of things. Could that chip not just be a writeable blank that a lot of manufacturers use for writing firmware on all manner of electronic devices?

Could be Robby, but the odds of three or four different companies all independently coming up with a near-identical implementation of TC in the same time period using identical hardware are vanishingly small. This board is used in the Waidea, the Kangxin, and apparently the Heatvape Invader Mini, among others.

But the chances of them all using the same chip to write their firmware on is pretty high, especially if they are cheap. When it comes down to it, there is only one way to implement TC and that`s with nickel, we`ve all seen SMOK`s FAIL So tempted to take this new invader mini apart, but I`ll resist . Personally, I dont have a problem if they all use the same basic firmware and tweak it, that`s were the practicality of a mod comes from. The important thing is that it works, and it works on a par with Evolve

Also if you check out Dwcraigs pic, the ChiNA40 board has the top of the on board fire button removed but socket is still in place and the up down switch contacts in place as well as same solder pads as DNA40. I'm guessing it is a dedicated use board.
