To the owner/walker of the dog that bit me this morning (based on the premise that your walking route may now change for the indefinite future). Dear sir, I do have grave concerns that you are not fully aware of the dietary requirements of your animal, the poor thing must have been starving for it to have looked upon me as a valuable source of protein and nutrients which would be of benefit to it, even as it partook of the flesh of my right thigh, I could not help but feel sorry for the poor little mite. I was quite willing to discuss these points with you, you do seem a caring sort, however witnessing the speed you departed the area I believe you must have been extremely late for a very important meeting, even as I was shouting after you, you did not stop. As you scurried away dragging the poor animal on its lead behind you I think I heard a murmured sorry but I cannot be sure. If we do not get to see each other again let me take this opportunity to tell you about the exciting day I have had since our meeting this morning. After hobbling/hopping round the corner to my place of work I was advised to attend the local A+E department (a rare treat indeed) I thoroughly enjoyed sitting in the waiting room, I actually find it very difficult to imagine a more perfect way to spend two and a half hours, added to the anticipation of awaiting treatment I made the most of it and caught up with some back issues of our modern literary greats, the wealth of knowledge I gained over this somewhat minimal period of time is wondrous indeed, I perused and absorbed facts, took part in quizzes to determine how I can be a better husband and lover from titles such as “Womans Own (May 1974)” and with a superb article on making xmas decorations with meat, the classic December 2006 edition of “Slimming World”, “The Railway Enthusiast” and the cream of the crop “Wood Turners weekly”. Even now I am finding it hard to contain myself. The treatment itself was lovely, unfortunately my mere flesh wound did not require stitches (imagine my disappointment) though to make up for it the kind nurse cleaned the wound with alcohol wipes which left a refreshing stinging and tingling sensation which was rather pleasant, this followed by a Tetanus injection which even now after 12 hours is reassuringly throbbing away in time with the wound on my leg. I really don’t know how to properly thank you sir, you have enriched my life no end and I even have the prospect of making a special trip to the clothes shop to purchase some new trousers to replace the ones I was wearing when we met. Yours Sincerely Ausfost

Awww, sorry to read this ausfost, although I hope your rather tongue in cheek letter has made you feel a little better. We have had threads and threads on irresponsible pet owners, so don't think I can say anything of value other than I hope you feel better very soon and that this guy tripped over during his swift departure and sprained his ankle

Sorry to hear you got bit, but that is a cracking letter. Some people shouldn't be allowed to own pets. It sounds like it wasent an ankle biter breed. Glad you have no lasting injuries. Keep a close eye out for infection brulidine cream is great for animal bites. Hope the silly cow gets to read this.

It’s things like this that really annoy me and give dogs and their owners a bad name. My dog can be jumpy and fearful around strangers away from the house so I do everything in my power not to put him in a situation where he feels the need to react. We have had great results so far with the work that I have done with him and we don’t have issues. If, god forbid, he was to lunge at, let alone bite anyone, I would be mortified and would do everything I could to help the person because I would feel that I have let my dog down. I am so sorry for your rotten day ausfost and owners like that should not be allowed dogs Although I do think you got off lightly, only a two and a half hour wait at A&E

I know you think you're the victim here ausfost, but I believe you must have done or said something to irritate it. You didn't call it a 'pussy cat' did you? In which case he/she was quite within it's human animal rights to rip the xxxx out of you. You must know by now it's always the victim's fault, the dog probably had a disturbed ' child puppyhood' and should be 'punished' with a fortnight of pampering at a top class 'dogs retreat'. Seriously, glad you're OK and also now an expert on 'wood turning'.

It actually happened on Thursday so i am basically healed now, "was merely a scratch" must be a monty python reference in there, a small flesh wound which was more of an inconvenience than anything else, part of me thinks they ran off due to my shouting (i wasn't as eloquent as in the letter). I was lucky i only had a short waiting period at the hospital, straight back to life as normal

What's missing is the usual: *Oh no, he/she has never done that before, it must have been something YOU did!*

Getting bitten aside this is absolute quality reading It's a shame people can't take responsibility for their pets actions. Especially my neighbour whose cat, which I believe to have ibs or similar, keeps turfing out on my crazy paving.

Send the letter to have a dig at the owner, im all for it but what breed was this dog, a powerful breed?, even so what's its going bite next, a child's face, even a small dog can scar a face for life..... Report it.
I don't harm any animal and will not pass one in pain or hunger, even spent 3 weeks of my life catching mice in humane traps and dropping them over the forest because I can't kill any innocent animal that's just trying to survive. I'm also a dog lover but a dog biting when not guarding its family or property gets no second chance from me, I would of kicked it in the air then seen what the owner had to say.
assuming you wasn't taking a short cut through the owners garden here....!

I'm like you can not pass an animal in trouble, one day driving through Cotswolds in the road was a pheasant, obviously leg and wing broken, just limping in tight circles, I speeded up and aimed the front wheel straight at it, instant death, she screamed and called me all the names under the sun, but I said what should I do, stop continue it's suffering for a few hours to find a vet who would have killed it anyway ? Did not stop my sense of guilt for the next week though, think I done the right thing for it. MP
