hi all - am sure there will be somewhere a thread about it - but can't find it at the moment.
what I mean is not in the liquid - but for example if I vape on 10mg strength - how much nicotine would be in the vape - am asking that because I hear more often now : a vaping - there is still nictoine in the vape - which i can't deny off course - but I would like to know - how much it would be and if it affects a passive vaper -somewhere i read that the vape has a ahalf time of 11 seconds compared to a cig of 25 minutes - but would like to know more
thanks

As in everything in life 'it depends' Do you mouth inhale or lung inhale? Lung inhales = more vapour taken in = more nic. Many a time I've coughed on a 9mg juice doing too many lung inhales. Regarding 'second hand vape' it was on VTTV last night, some guy who's not renowned for supporting ecigs said ' There is no discernable risk to non-vapers from vaping'. Wish I'd written it down, as it demolishes that argument. Replay the VTTV on youtube, it's in there. If it wasn't so close to beddy byes I would do

If a tank holds 2.5ml at 10mg/ml this would = 25mg of nicotine. I believe one smelly holds 1 mg of nicotine. From this, 1 tank would = 25 smellies. Thinking back to my smelly days this would be about the same rate of nicotine. How's that for false logic?

I can't remember the exact figure but vapour can only deliver around one third of the nic by volume that smoke can. I'm on 4mg now so the amount I'm absorbing will be minimal, bordering on the placebo effect even. Except lung hits, still definitely feel the nic after 8 or 9 healthy lung hits.
Chris.
Ps too add to the above post, if you have the same nic as 25 cigs in a tank full you will in theory only absorb one third of what you would had you smoked 25 cigs. Again I'm more and more convinced the nic aspect is more psychological than you might imagine.

Again I'm more and more convinced the nic aspect is more psychological than you might imagine. I'm apt to agree with you there Toondog. I recently found some old mixes of mine at 12mg but I got myself down to 6mg of nic - anyway I decided to use up these 12mg bottles and found I could swap between 12mg & 6mg without even noticing the difference. A friend of mine who comes over here for several weeks at a time tends to vape whatever #mg she can get hold of and can go from 18mg one minute right down to 6mg without noticing any difference or having any dire effects on cravings. So it could be more psychological than we think. Mind you both of us started vaping at the same time and it might make a bit of difference on the length of time of vaping. A new vaper would obviously need high nicotine to start with so am not so sure on the psychological aspect for total beginners. And to Clivia, yes I've read somewhere a few times that the vapour from e-cigs only takes around 11 seconds to vanish whereas smoke from a cigarette lingers for around 20/25 minutes. Not sure about this one but I think I also read somewhere that if you continuously vaped for around 40 minutes you would get the same amount of nicotine into the blood stream as you would when smoking 1 cigarette for 5 minutes. Therefore it takes a lot longer for the same amount of nicotine to hit the blood stream when vaping, which could be why a lot of people chain vape (like me)

Funny you said that because I've only been vaping 4 weeks from 20 cigs a day on my nautilus I can vape what ever 18 mg 12mg don't crave on either and I only vape 2ml a day the only time I notice and would rather the 12mg is with the Atlantis lung hits because the 18g makes me a bit light headed

Too many variables such as the absorption rate of your lungs and nasal lining etc versus how long you take to exhale and the depth of the inhale to calculate accurately, but there will be nicotine exhaled. It will be more than smoking as well because smoking has a higher absorption rate of nicotine due to the smoke particles being smaller than vapour particles, enabling them to reach deeper into the lungs.
