I use XP, 7 & 8.1 I still prefer XP, but once you get used to it 8.1 is an improvement over 7, stick with it, remember the hoohah when Win95 replaced 3.1? Having said that I still have an old 3.1 machine and love it I've still not got over PC-DOS overtaking CP/M! I have a cardboard Turing machine. You can write a program and manually move the pointer and change zeros and ones.

I used to work on a very expensive, top of the range, photo-typesetting machine that was programmed in a 6-bit variant of EBCDIC and input using punched paper tape. But you try and tell the young people today that... and they won't believe ya'.

Many thanks for all your advice, I'm getting used to Chrome now. Some of the comments certainly brought back memories... Apart from learning BASIC on the various Sinclairs (ZX81 & Spectrum) at home, my first introduction at work was an HP terminal linked to the company's mainframe, but I could use it to write simple programmes. Then the IBM PCs with Visicalc installed (Wow!). I was then given this Compaq portable (?) to take work home with me, twin floppies, and weighed a ton, but managed to adapt the company's budgetting process to a spreadsheet with macros (I think it was 123 by then). Thought I knew it all back then, now I'm easily lost.

And I STILL know/love Spectrum Basic The ZX Spectrum with it's dead flesh keyboard, oh the fun I had waiting for the cassette tape to load Manic Miner, the thrill when it finally loaded on and I was greeted with the theme tune 'The Hall of the Mountain King'.

I've been using Firefox for many years - it just works for me exactly as I want it to, no matter which OS I'm using. If anything, I'm finding it even quicker than ever with Windows 8.1.

Meh C64 for the win Mainly for the various superstitions me and my mate used to go through to ensure that games actually loaded after the ten minute wait. Kids those days etc etc lol
