robby yeah but is it a TC fix or are they just going to take out the ramp up from the program?
If all they are doing is addressing the ramp up time then all they're doing is giving users a faster way to scorch their wick.

I find it very hard to believe that they didn`t try it out after the last firmware revision they made. I am a cynic, but for them to allow that to happen without somebody signing off the revision beggars belief

Also it sounds like Smok will be starting up new productions so maybe it will be a better updated chip
They also should be sent the video how it burnt through the cotton in temp mode unlike the Evolv one did not...

They have been sent that on their FB page and I have just sent it direct

FOund this on another Forum, Smok need to understand that the temp mode doesn't work full stop and it's not just the ramp up time problem

Nice find -V- My problem with this device is the continued sale of it as a TC device and imo vendors need to take this feature out from the listing page for this device.

They really shouldn`t be selling them at all, there is no guarantee that they can sort it all out. They should be pulled from sale until their firmware update is proven. The way that it is supposed to work with nickel or kanthal on temp control and the fact that it shuts down when it reaches temperature control level instead of regulating would almost lead you to believe that this is some sort of board protection which would shut it down in the same way.

Oh well this device did not last long, it has just literally gone faulty now and wont fire anything, (display says "Check Atomizer") i have contacted Ash myepack about this fault but it is dead and will not fire anything i attach, display and charging is working normal, it is just showing check atomizer when trying to fire anything. Just heard and read comments about this as another problem like what i have just written, so this could be another fault that is rearing it's ugly head with the M80

I have had it on good authority that SMOK are struggling with the M80 in getting a firmware update together (even just to take out the ramp up time) and SMOK have stated that they may take off the feature totally in the revised version of the M80 and or the update if and when it comes available (i don't think it will be forthcoming) because they gave the impression that they don't actually know how TC works and i don't believe they have the expertise or products to either sort the devices that are on the market now or to manufacture future devices, nor do they have the tech expertise to revise what is already out. A massive FAIL and MARKETING flop IMO. Vendors selling this device need and have a duty to future potential customers to be selling this device as a VW/mech mode device only.

That`s a bloody disgrace richo71 , they must have known it wouldn`t work properly when they shipped them, anything to get a few quid and dollars in.

Just updated to v0005

Temp control is still not working, and still potentially very dangerous to use.

The initial ramp up seems to have gone, but it still doesn't remember an at rest resistance of the coil, so, fire once, then fire again shortly after and the coil will get far too hot as the hotter resistance is used as the starting point.

So disappointed with this...
