How much difference can the base nic/pg/vg make? Is there a standard to any of them? They all say 'flavourless'. but is that true?
Tried different ones with various concentrates combinations, and most taste completely different.
I'm keeping accurate records and measuring with syringes.

I've only ever used 7.2% VG nic base, but from a few different suppliers. Can't say I have ever noticed a difference in taste.

Nicotine has a taste, so the higher your nic % the more of that taste you will get. Also VG has a sweetness to it, so higher VG ratio will be sweeter. The final mix will change it's taste over time as it steeps.

Yeah plus one on the VG being ever so slightly sweeter but to me barely noticeable. As long as it's pharma or bp grade no problems. A while back people claimed cheap chinese nic gave them the trots! Never would consider buying from outside the EU or USA bp or pharma anyway so not likely to happen to me. Also only on .3 now so the amount I absorb is probably negligable and the same goes for influence on the flavour. As a foot note, Juice tastes so much better the less nic you have in it. That I stand by 100%!

My 2p. Ive had PG & VG (No nic) from various suppliers that once mixed have had a noticeable sour/bitter taste that no matter how much flavour/sweetner you throw at it has been unmaskable (not including menthol as that covers anything lol.) My tip is to find a neutral PG/VG that you like and stick with it, I will pay a little extra to have a vape I can enjoy.

Thought it was maybe the nic. Turns out to be pg/vg mixed. They are both ok on their own. Vg sweeter than some though. I'm going heavy vg mix from now on so I will bin the pg. Took me a while to work it out. Other stuff on my mind.......or losing it....? Thanks all

I'd hang onto the PG tim, it could be handy in the future if you wanted to make a Vanillin or Menthol additive . . . neither dissolve well in VG. Out of interest, what mixes did you make and how long did you leave them to steep for? Only because sometimes leaving brews to blend a little longer, then the taste can settle better.
