These have been doing it from brand new I believe, no chance of juice getting inside. Maybe removing the top cap has improved the ground connection. Definitely something to look into. Thanks PlugwashOK, Mini road test complete after the dismantle, wipe clean and rebuild. All is working still, Aqua v2 dual coil like a dream, blowing great clouds with 4 pints of Palmers 200. Just got home and the Subtank mini that hasn't been recognised by the M50 for 3 weeks is now also working like a dream! So, it's either juice ingress, or, as Ripshod said, bad earthing. If you are happy reseating the topcap it might work!

Hi, sorry to revive an old thread, this may be of use to some though, so I joined just to repsond to this. I bought this mod and had it grind to a halt over the first three weeks - power reduced, check atomiser, weak battery, glitching screen... til the point it just wouldn't work at all. Plugwashes ^^ advices got my mod working again perfectly. I dont think its to do with juice, more to do with connectivity or earthing. I took the top plate off and put it back on again, thats about it. But as an addition... I also emailed Smok quality feedback and got this response: Thanks for choosing SMOK product. There are 2 way that might help with this issue, please refer to the below details. Hoping this info is of use to some people. I have read so many frustrated posts on forums regarding this mod, but if it works as advertised, its a great box for its cost. Will report back on any changes. Cheers

Cheers. Will do that now.
Very interesting the way the performance of this device slowly deteriorated though. I was "losing" about 5W max power per week on fully charged Efest 3100's. It now happily fires at 50W even around 40% capacity. I'm wondering if the deterioration could indicate something; connectivity slowly getting worse presumably, but how? I actually did adjust the positive pin slightly also.

I'm the opposite side of the fence though adox. I've only ever had one Watt drop and I vape at 40-45 Watts. Admittedly that was with a fake VTC5 One interesting thing that's come out in the wash - There appears to be 2 variants. They can be identified by the way the fire button is held in. Mine was held in with a small metal clip. Others just pop out, with no clip.

Handy vid. I'm quite happy that the problem at this stage seems to be a fixable design flaw, rather than crap circuitry or components (not that I think this budget device is using top notch bits anyway). To be nit picky... why is the guy in the vid constantly talking about current passing from the negative/earth terminal of the battery? Is he confused or am I?

We all know that current passes from positive to negative adox. However the electrons travel from negative to positive. The guy is just trying to sound smart and confusing himself, making him look like an a*** (imho).

Not the best presenter, but, the concept is good. If you have resistance in the circuit, you are going to get voltage drop. This will possibly cause the chip to think the battery is discharged!
Think mech mod maintenance, we always kept threads and contacts cleaned for this reason!

Yeah I figured as much, you just never hear someone talking about 'true current' as its confusing. Whole thing does make sense. I think it's worth reiterating here that connections at both ends of the mod should be given attention (in my case it didn't a actually seem to be the negative end, but the positive end needing attention). What an awful design flaw to put into production!?
