You're in a a pub/bar or coffee shop, you fancy a vape but are not sure if it's allowed (it's your first time here) You go up to the bar or counter and say....................

instead of vaping last weekend in witherspoons bournemouth without permission, i did ask a member of staff 1st. was told it isnt in their policy. asked to see the manager, and he responded that they have a member of staff who vapes but isnt allowed in the premises

I'd go to the counter and show it to the staff member and say "Have you seen one of these before?"

If they said no, I'd say "Well, you have now" - and I'd start vaping

"Can I get a coke with no ice, lemon or straw (nothign that floats) please and have you had anyone ask about using an electronic cigarette before ?" I put my white Riva on the counter while i get my purse out and if they say "we don't allow it cos they look like ciggys" I pick mine up and say "really? this looks like a ciggy?" and the conversation goes from there usually

Otherwise they have never heard of them so I give them some info showing what it is and how it works, usually they say "oh ok then " and maybe ask for more details lol

I've not had anyone so far say I cant use it

Some are Des, but if I get a quizzical look . . . then I give them a quick demo and wait for a reaction.

I use the phrase "is it okay to use my vaporiser" that way you are not using the C word and I don't mention nicotine first off. I also carry some vendor cards, the ones from liberro are particularly good explaining that you are not smoking and are not breaking any laws.

My one real foray into 'outside' vaping was with Sham, in a pub in Chipping Sodbury High Street . . . you've probably seen the photo Des . . . but we had a real good vaping time in the Beaufort!

Like Des, I've learned that the C word does you no favours. I'll usually take my innocent looking SDK and ask if it's O.K to use my nicotine inhaler.. In these PC times not one person has said no yet!

Although I am careful not to create too much vapour..The questioning usually happens a bit later after the curiosity has overwhelmed them.

I just go in and vape and wait and see if they question me.
I did it at work last week and one of the office boys was waving like a loopy moaning about the smell (what smell) despite my lavatube being sat at the desk and unused, my reply was if i cant vape they cant boil the kettle lol.
The others were ok with it even liked the "aroma" of caramel cappucino

Havent had the courage to vape in pubs or cafes yet, but I wonder what they'd says if I said "excuse me while I whip this out", whilst geting my Riva out.

On 2nd thoughts, perhaps it would be more polite and acceptable to say would you mind if I use my vaporiser in here?
