"Where's my fish!" Says D12. Thanks for the Osprey clip Scylla - a bit of wife-beating going on there - she's a heck of a nag!! Fox

Quote from RSPB site: I'm pleased to say that the 3rd chick at Char X Hosp is still holding its own....9 days after it looked as if it was a "gonna".

Harmon the eaglet is reunited with his parents. Story (italics by Razzle): The nest became very muddy after a heavy rain and the eaglet sank into this muck and became entangled. As Harmon struggled small sticks punctured his back resulting in the wounds. The parents stayed with the eaglet and tried to feed it but Harmon's position made that difficult.A rescue team took Harmon from the nest and treated his maggoty wounds and fed him, and this vid shows what happened after he was replaced on the nest. I don't know how many days had elapsed since he was taken. Don't tell me they're not human

Thanks for the info on Razzle Scylla. That video is quite a weepy, hopefully with a happy ending. Seeing just the one chick makes me realize even more what a great pair the Dacorahs are to have raised three eaglets year after year. To see the babies bopping around the nest so close to the edges fills me with dread. By the way, UStreamTV was hit by a DDOS attack today but all is now well after several hours off air. Fox

I haven't been popping in on the Decorah eagles very often but last time was lucky to find this restful scene Chichester peregrines doing very well, I am told (I told an acquaintance about MMa's affection for them and she keeps me briefed ). Loch Garten ospreys had a chick last night, seems very lively and healthy - but the weather is absolutely dire and the cam not only low resolution but blotched over with rain/snow, so I'll post a vid when I get something clear.

Hi MMa Here are EJ and Odin's 2 chicks, one more to come: There are horrible problems with the cam/broadband from Loch Garten, and often the lens is blotched with rain. Last night was dry so this is not too bad, but it's always very pixellated these days

Thank you Scyll - pic was okay but there was a buzzing noise. Not that I care, as long as I see the birdies. MMa

Hello, sincere apologies, I'm not keeping up wherever I'm supposed to be Here are the Decorah eaglets "practising", doing really well: MMa, re the buzzz on the osprey-dam - it's HELL, there's been so much trouble with it this year, huge pixels, blackouts, orful, we're just grateful to have anything. Here's #3 (littlun) defeating #2 (who starts all the fights and always loses): Cornish barn owls = I'm desperately worried cos I've lost track of #5 (another littlun), I forget to set the recorder going But I haven't seen more than 4 since 26th. I shall video all night in the hope that he will resurface. I think that 2 eggs of the 7 didn't hatch. Don't bother watching much of this, but you'll see how small #5 is: [youtube] So far the CBOs have not been entertaining, but I wub them anyway ;-) The kestrel chicks are a joy (when I get a chance to pop in). See this - do watch it to the "tail end" : They're growing a foot a day, I swear! Just had a fish delivery, must fly! EDIT @ 1552hr: I'd been skipping thru 4 hours of video every 5 minutes, then it dawned on me that I wasn't going to find #5, so I went to the Barn Owl Trust's site May 28th - we received several reports that the youngest owlet died on Sunday [27th] afternoon but was quickly 'recycled' by the other owlets. We don't think this is particularly common as it's the first time it's happened since we started streaming Nestcam 4 years ago (3 fatalities out of 10 owlets in 2008, 2009 and 2010). We don't think this happened as a result of food shortage, as there was a cached small mammal in the nestbox at the time.
It's not unusual for Barn Owl nestlings to die in the nest, and this, plus the fact it was consumed by the other owlets, probably increases their chances of survival.
I did witness #6 of the Starr Ranch owlet family being killed and eaten, awful
