Hi all, After much frustration, realisation and deliberation I have come to the conclusion that I need a 510 passthrough! The problem is there are far too many on the market to know whether I'm being baffled by science or getting a bargain? It must be a 510 fitment to accompany the carto's and attys I already have and really must be under £20. I would like one that has variable voltage, so I can get the most from my juice. I am having trouble deciding whether it should be a battery passthrough or not? I like the versatility this offers, and the Ego 900mah is within budget: www.vapeescape.co.uk/900mah%2Dvariable%2Dvoltage%2Dbattery%2D%26%2Dpass%2Dthrough%7E287It seems though that to get the most out of VV (5v vaping!) a wired version would be better, and a little cheaper: www.healthcabin.net/indexdd.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1082_1084&products_id=7819I know there are so many others available (I must have looked at most of them) which appear to me to be much of a muchness? It all boils down to versatility of a battery passthrough, or the higher voltage of a wired passthrough? I am edging toward a battery passthrough - is there anything else I need to consider? Thank you

Thanks Chrissie,
I had seen this linked in other threads (by you if I remember correctly?) and to be honest it would be tempting at half the price, but I can't get over the fact that it's a vehicle cig lighter adapter which has been modified. Now if it was variable it would be a contender.

Another vote for Garry's PT from me as well, with the USB hub it's a great piece of reasonably priced vaping kit Giz.

Funny you should say that Chrissie - just spent the last hour looking through the modding section. I have the bug...and a few ideas!

So, if you buy one of these you get a battery as well which will charge while your vaping it? Can you buy replacement batteries for it? i pressume it will not work with the normal Ego batteries I have? And the one at Vapescape is VV, Mmmm, i think i may need one of these soon (note to self, stop reading this forum!)

Thanks colli,
I've not looked into 18650 batteries yet but I see them mentioned all the time and wondered why mods/ecigs aren't centred around AA batteries? At a guess it will probs be that they have a higher output voltage, but obviously AA's are more convenient to buy and charge etc...
I've also been wondering where 510 battery connectors can be bought in the uk, and have seen tonight LF sell them (but are out of stock right now?) Any ideas if there are any other retailers in the uk that sell these?
Just off for a quick nose at your link!

You'd need minimum 3 of those in series to get close to a single Li-IOn or Li Polymer cells. There are mods with AA rechargeable batteries though. They are about the size of an old portable transistor radio, if you remember one of those, with an atty connector where the antenna would be with 4.8v output ie., 4 batteries in series. If you are going to dabble in modding just one word of caution..Be very careful with Li Ion batteries..they really can explode in extreme cases and blow your hand off. So get protected batteries and not the cheapest one you can buy.

And the one at Vapescape is VV, Mmmm, i think i may need one of these soon (note to self, stop reading this forum!) Sorry Karma - I've just seen this! AFAIK: Yes it will charge at the same time as you're vaping with it, and what's more, once it is charged it acts like a normal battery. I like the idea of being able to use it whilst plugged in and not worry about the battery running out, but better still - we do a lot of 4 hour+ drives and this would be fab to have plugged in whilst driving. Yes, there are replacement batteries for it. If your Ego is a 510 fitment then this will work with the carts/carto's you already have. The reason I have opted to buy this particular one is threefold! One being the great 20% discount code (Thanks Karma). Two - I prefer the versatility of this and currently I need another battery. Three - I like the idea of modding, so I am going to make me a wired passthrough! Win win!
