Over the weekend, Paola Saluzzi, a presenter with Sky Italia, took to Twitter, in reference to Fernando Alonso's pre-season crash and media claims that at one stage he lost his memory.

In Italian she tweeted: "His memory has returned and he has now remembered how #arrogant and #jealous he is. #hugeidiot"

The tweet was subsequently deleted but Alonso was clearly aware of it, apparently refusing to speak to Sky Italia for the remainder of the weekend. Gazzetta dello Sport subsequently reported that Saluzzi has been suspended.

Contacted by Pitpass, a McLaren spokesman said: "We were astonished and disappointed by Ms Saluzzi’s tweet - which we regarded as rude, inaccurate, inappropriate and gratuitous - and we are pleased that it has been deleted. We are aware that Ms Saluzzi has apologised for it, and rightly so."

Did anyone watch the other FIA race this weekend - the Six Hours WEC race? Cracking stuff - we also have a world champion in Anthony Davidson.

I have to be honest having watched F1 for many many years I find endurance racing much more enjoyable, more fan friendly and better racing. F1 is still the pinnacle I guess, but less and less exciting.

Ability to drive a touring car - I'm a quick learner
Shed load of money - Slight problem there

But apart from that it's a yes then

International race license, need god knows how many signatures for national races (had it for years so forgot, thats age for you)
Ability to drive touring car, lessons available at £300 per hour, but not a lot know they have auto mode, no gear changes needed, dont tell everyone or publish it on a forum ok lol.

Money, thats all our biggest downfall.

If you are missing your motor racing today is the WEC Spa 6 hours. It is on Motors TV and commentary is also on Radio Le Mans (radiolemans.com). If you like top class motor racing it is really worth a look/listen. Starts at 13.30.

The factory Porsche teams head the qualifying, followed by Audi and Toyota. LMP2 is headed by the Nissan-Ligier. GT Pro has an Aston Martin on pole followed by a Ferrari 458.
