Why does my Cat do this?

My cat does a lot of things I don't understand but going to start with the one that has perplexed me tonight , my cat is undoubtedly my CAT she thinks I am the bees knees and she often walks to heel ( I have never tried to make her do this I might add I am sure she'd refuse if I tried). At the grand old age of 34 I am temporaily living at "home" I spend most of my time upstairs and the Cat does her thing until bedtime when she sleeps in my bed. Occasionally she will sit on my Mum's knee but if she hears me coming she leaps off like a bat out of hell. Now I don't care if she sits on my Mum's knee, infact I'll often put her there , so why does she feel the need not to be "seen" by me there is this some kind of terriotarial thing ? I am actually really interested in why she does it?

Maybe it will help if I add that she was a stray that decided she was living with me in the deep freeze of 2010 and it was only the cold , ohh and maybe the fact that I gave her tuna that caused her to live with me

If you give my cat tuna she will live with you too She's not happy here cause the vet said we had to put her on a diet

Haha it was only once (well maybe twice when I found out of date stuff in the cupboard ) but it was so cold and she was so thin and cute

Yeah I get that , but my sister is quite happy to off load my nephew on me and my Mum so why the guilty behaviour for going to someone else for cuddles?

Some times I dont think it's anythign to do with the cuddles shes getting from someone else, I think it's more of a nosey thing to see what "mum" is up to, mum has the best fusses and food and toys and play etc etc. 2 of mine will be butter in my hands but soon as hubby opens the front door comign back from work they both on the floor to see whats happening. Meowing and telling him all about their day lol. I sit there and call them traitors lol but I think they just like to be in on the action.

When I'm looking under the tv stand for the food ball (which always seems to end up under there ??) All three of them come around me to see what I'm doing on their floor, even if they were sleeping. Curiosity and the cat remember

My Dad and Granddad were born there Karma, so I'm half Scottish, dunno which half though, lol, and my maiden name is Scott. Can't get more Scottish than that! My Granddad had his own barber shop there. I visited a few times when I was a small kid, don't remember much though, it was many moons ago.

After living with cats all my life I have come to the conclusion that for the sake of your own sanity it is best never to try to figure out why a cat does something. Just accept that they do it.
