Hi what is the difference of using twisted kanthal please ?? As you know I'll be having my first go at the sub mini build though I'll be sticking to the guide instructions as I don't want to complicate it for now and get the wicking right etc. eBay sell 27awg twisted kanthal would this improve the build can it be used ??? I'm going to be having a go at the 0.5 ohm build and 1.1ohm or 1.0 ohm which ever it comes out lol with the normal kanthal for a while, I was just wondering are there benefits of twisted kanthal

Some say it's improves flavour due to increased surface area. I wouldn't worry about it for now until you've got simple coils / micro coils under your belt.
There not over difficult but probably not the best place to start.

It increases the surface area of the coil considerable hence more juice gets heated, well worth trying @yavape
Twisting your own is easy with either an electric or hand drill.
Edit. Must learn to type faster

you can also get ribbon Kanthal, its flat wire and is the same sort of idea - larger surface area I'm still quite content with single coils generally and I have only just started dropping under 1 ohm recently. I've been doing dual coil rba and rda builds as I have tanks and drippers that require that build and I've got good sub ohming batteries but its best to get through the learning stage on coils that wont strain your batteries and if you make mistakes (which we all do as beginners) its safer to learn on higher ohm builds and single coils so you can problem solve

I would say that in a subtank mini I wouldn't bother with a twisted coil build. I was an advocate of twisted micro coils in my kayfun but what I've found to work best on the subtank is 4-5 wraps of .35 round a 2mm drill bit leaving a space between each wrap. I think the faster heat up time of a single length of kanthal suits the subtank much better.
Cheers Chris

tbh I only got ribbon wire for my genesis builds as its a joy to wrap around mesh wick but I have seen youtube vids where people use it in drippers and tanks with silica and cotton and rayon wicks... I'm not that adventurous!

There are a whole variety of twisted coils @yavape At the start, as others have said, you need to get to grips with simple coils, ohms law, resistance, suitable batteries etc, all of which are searchable on the forum. But you seem to have an enquiring and adventurous mind so here are a few pics of coils I've tried to whet you appetite.

I'm so happy to say I attempted the subtank 0.5ohm today came out 0.6 ohm but it lit up lovely ,putting it in was tricky and the wicking but I got there , so now hopefully it will get easier with practice @scooby.
