Preps, that is blooming fantastic to hear that your smoking cessation officer are 100% happy with the e-cig So many are against them & IMHO, that is partly due to lack of knowledge & mainly due to the fact that it's the drug companies that fund the NHS stop smoking clinics.

Poor {{{ JJ }}} you did take on a lot all at once I hope our lovely members have encouraged you to chill out about the whole thing. What gear are you using? It could well be that you need something a bit more substantial Onwards and upwards

JJ You ever heard the one about weight watchers putting you on a diet with very little water in it so you lose weight very quickly stop going to classes , start eating normally put weight on as your body retains the water it needs to well live, so you start handing over your fiver a week to the weight watchers teacher again? I am starting to think that the Pharmecutical companies work on the same basis just as weight watchers don't want you to actually lose weight the pharmacuetical companies don't acually want you to stop smoking they want you to stop long enough to use their products for a couple of months , you start smoking again when you stop using thier products a few months later your back at the chemist handing over your pennies for that disgusting gum ! At least with vaping your still giving your body the nicotine it "needs", whilst cutting down smoking with a view to stopping. I haven't stopped smoking yet but am now at half what I used too smoke, and am starting to be able to realisticaly imagine being able to stop smoking rather than it seeming an impossible task. I am also told realiably by a lot of the good people on here that sooner or later the nasties will taste disgusting to me and I will prefer the liquid, at the moment I still need the smokes but I definitely prefer the vaping. For now I am concentrating on cutting down hopefully the nasties will taste, well nasty but for now I am just so proud of myself of myself for the ones I'm not smoking and so should you be

Exactly Kirsty. The extortionately expensive 'quit smoking' paraphernalia wouldn't get sold, the companies would go out of business and people would lose their jobs. Of course they're not going to approve of e cigs and they're too scared to test them thoroughly as they know damn well when they get an official seal of approval that's what would happen. It's also going to affect tobacco companies too. More people out of work and on government paid benefits.

Sorry, I'll rephrase that, tax payers money, but the government think it's theirs.

Thanks Anne and Chrissie
I also meant to say that I am not 100% on board with e-cigs being safe , if my internet research is correct they were developed less than 10 years ago (2003) and there is a lack of research into them. What I am sure if is there are far less than 4000 chemicals going into them so based on that simple mathematics tells me they are safer than cigs and I'd also hazard a guess they are safer than the patches that deliver nicotine directly into your blood stream or drugs that alter your moods and give you bizarre dreams!

The research I've done is that they're no more bad for you than caffeine, so you get the same 'dangers' from drinking a cup of coffee or drinking coke!

Odd that she's more concerned about the e-cig than the NRT products.
Nicorette QuickMist spray contains 1mg of Nicotine, Propylene Glycol, Anhydrous Ethanol, Trometamol, Poloxamer 407, Glycerol, Sodium Hydrogen Carbonate, Levomenthol, Mint Flavour, Cooling Flavour, Sucralose, Acesulfame Potassium, Hydrochloric Acid, Purified Water.
So thats alcohol and hydrochloric acid to start with that arent in ejuice which is PG/PEG and/or VG, nicotine and food flavourings.
So which one seems to have more chemicals and more potential to be a nasty?
Oh and don't forget the maximum permitted dosage on the quickmist is just 64 squirts in 24 hours.

The research I've done is that they're no more bad for you than caffeine, so you get the same 'dangers' from drinking a cup of coffee or drinking coke! that doesn't bode well for me tee hee... but I 'aint worried. I've gone 5 months (over) on the e-cig...NEVER possible with the pharmaceutical jobbies...(like seriously unwell within 20 hours and every medic I know telling me to get a cig) so why worry? Hope you manage to transition soon. Even if it's just cut down the cigs. Don't worry...we know it will happen it's just a question of when Odd that she's more concerned about the e-cig than the NRT products. So which one seems to have more chemicals and more potential to be a nasty? Oh and don't forget the maximum permitted dosage on the quickmist is just 64 squirts in 24 hours. which by the way is nothing....Didn't even begin to deal with the result from no nic etc. Wasn't so much craving as getting sick from the withdrawals.... As my friends say baby steps hun... Hugs

Wow, so many replies, thankyou everyone for your words of wisdom and support, it really does help and makes me realise that I am not on my own in trying to quit the nasties. I will contact my sister and ask her what information she has regarding e-cigs - I suspect she doesnt have a lot of info to be honest, it was just a fleeting statement over dinner and I wasnt in the best of moods as my dad had driven us to my sisters and he is a completely vile driver and had caused me to have a massive panic attack on the way there. Its the Riva kit I bought, pink of course lol, and I have loads of juices, my particular faves so far being Tiger Blood and Ice cherry I think it is - I bought tobacco ones too which I havent used, the drum in particular smells like a stinky ashtray so I wont be using that though. I have another kit, very kindly gifted to my by Bel one that looks just like a ciggie, and my fella is going to use that and he will use the tobacco flavours. One thing I know that is a stumbling block for me is that I smoke something else, I suffer with arthritis and degenerative disc problems, and have enough pain meds to fell a herd of cows and I would rather not take them so I use the other stuff just in an evening, a tiny amount, and helps a little with the pain rather than rattling with 100s of pills - I am looking for a herbal tobacco that I could use instead of the nasty tobacco and I feel once I have found an alternative for that I will find it a lot easier. My riva is on charge as we speak and I am going to be using it again today. Thanks again everyone, you are all soooo brill
