quick question guys, I tried to find the answer myself, but only found contradicting answers.
When topping up my carto, I've been removing the drip tip and dropping a few drops in, whilst the carto is still attached to the battery, is this safe? Will it ruin the battery? I have removed the carto to have a look if any liquid is building up around the battery end a few times and found nothing yet.

I would remove it from the battery before topping up and then blow through it and wipe to make sure there is no drips there

OK thanks for that.. Shame though, cus I've had a lovely day topping up regularly, as you'll see in sues thread, and this makes it more awkward

Yeah, but you soon get used to it and it's better than taking a chance of ruining your battery!

You only really need to remove the carto from the battery if you use an auto battery like the SD Keyring. Riva/egao/Lavatube is fine to top up without removing. I just pop the frip tip off and drip in about 10 - 15 drops, pop the drip tip back in and am good to go. No need to leave standing to soak or use condom method if you've filled before.
If when you start to vape again the carto gurgles then you've overfilled it, just gently blow ith through. wipe off the carto end and the battery connector then you're good to go.

I'm using a Riva Des, and I'm filling with a needle capped bottle direct into the filler, so no chance of missing and getting any down the tube (like my missus kept doing before I put the needle caps on,) so that would be ok then?

No worries Karma, I'm learning too, but still keep trying to help other people, it's a good thing. And it does explain the contradicting advice I was reading elsewhere if it depends what battery you are using.

I unscrew the battery then top up the carto from the screw end

Des is right, no need to remove the carto from the Riva as it is a sealed battery Just check every now & again to make sure no juice has seeped onto the carto/battery threads as that will result in a poor contact. Anne, out of interest, how are you topping up via the screw end?

. Anne, out of interest, how are you topping up via the screw end? Just squeezing the juice drip by drip into the hole, been doing this for ages and *touchwood* haven't had one carto pack up on me yet.

Blimey Anne . . . doesn't that take forever filling that way! As ever, it's the easy option for me . . . I don't take the drip tip off, nor take the carto off a battery, just a good squonk of juice down it . . . leave for a few moments for the juice to absorb and away I go.

Lol. Perpy, not really, I squeeze fast and hold the carto at an angle, I only top up with about 8 drops at a time. I tend to use my tank most of the time now though.
