Did anyone else watch the first episode of the modern day Sherlock last Sunday? I thought it was brilliant & when I saw he was wearing nicotine patches, I though he could really do with an e-cig It would so fit in with his quirky up to date character & of course would be fantastic publicity for the e-cig For anyone who missed the first episode, you can watch it via BBC-iplayer. www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b00t8wp0/Sherlock_A_Study_in_Pink/

Yes, Chrissie, I watched it last night (had recorded it) and enjoyed it - and I am ultra critical of, and usually cheesed off with, the BBC's drama offerings in recent years (except for Cranford and a couple of others that you may remind me of) but they may have a rich vein here if they can keep up intelligent writing and don't go off the rails in their efforts to attract the "wrong" market. Funnily enough, I was envisaging Sherlock lying back on his sofa with vapour wafting from his elegant e-cig - and saw him using a passthru so that he would appear wired up to his supply, taking the place of intravenous heroin I really think the BBC missed a trick there - it just shows they didn't take any notice of the letter I wrote them after Linda Robson's first quit-smoking programme, the buggaz Benedict Cumberbatch (!!!!!!!!!!!!!) is the son of Wanda Ventham scylla

I'd also recorded it Scylla & watched it Friday night. It really is the best thing I've watched on telly for yonks!
And yes, I agree, the BBC missed what would have been a great trick.

I watched, and thoroughly enjoyed too. I chuckled at the number of patches!
Is Cranford ever returning - new series, not re-runs? Summer TV is always pretty dire IMHO.

Would it be worth writing in to the producers? It's such a good idea! Or do the words pearls & swine come to mind ???

Lolli, I was wondering about writing in. It's just a series of 3 at the moment but hopefully they will produce more.
James, I know what you mean re the patches, but I do think it could still work.

I bought and tried patches when travelling back and forth to Thailand - sometimes meaning that I had to be circa 18 hours ciggy free. Patches were utterly useless (for me). I would arrive at BKK airport, desperate to get my cases, then to get through customs, in order to get outside to have a fag! Sheer bliss. Anything or anyone who added to a time hold-up' was in danger of a dose of my wrath/impatience. But now, with the e-cig - never again! How good is that? Airport staff are now absolutely safe.
