Hi there, I've been vaping now for a couple of weeks but I'm beginning to have a bit of a problem. I'm getting an acrid taste and its burning my throat when I inhale. I've tried several times to change my coil but after a few hours the problem comes back again. If I keep puffing, trying not to choke, it will go away for a bit but comes back again. Please can someone tell me if I'm doing something wrong.

Sorry to hear this. I think we need more info to advise as it sounds like you're perhaps intolerant to PG and may need to make some adjustments.
What equipment are you using? What juice are you vaping and what is the PG/VG/Nic ratio of it? What wattage do you vape at? Are you drinking plenty of water?

Sounds to me like a wicking issue considering they have mentioned "burning taste". Completing the above information should help us deduce more.

Thanks so much for your reply's. You'll never guess this, I'm using an I stick 50w and using 90vg 10pg in a mini nautilus, but I've eventually twigged that I had the wattage up too high. What a twit!! Talk about thick ... turned it right down from 12.5w to 8.5w and bingo, it's been absolutely perfect! I must have wasted several coils thinking they were to blame. Oh well, you learn something new every day with this vaping and so far I'm completely hooked.

Sounds like at the temp you had it.....it wasn't wicking the thick juice fast enough. There will be an iStick expert along soon

Yep 90vg in a nautilus is asking for problems. Unless your pg intolerant might be worth getting a higher pg juice or a different tank.

High VG juice needs time to wick as the VG has a really thick consistency, try giving a couple of dummy/primer puffs on the Nautilus before pressing the button to vape, to suck in that juice to the coil, if you see air bubble rise to the top then it should be primed and ready to vape. You may need to this every couple of puffs. Failing that, if you're still getting the same jacq i'd say get a higher PG ratio juice too, maybe start with 60PG/40VG and see how you get on.

Agreed. I have a mini nautilus in an istick 50w riight now with a 50/50 mix and it's perfect at 13.4W

You also try adding a dash of Vodka ( to your eliquid! ) jacq, to help make it a little more runny . . . which in turn will help with it wicking.

jacq- the PG in liquid enhances the flavour, and is quite a runny liquid. VG gives more vapour and a certain sweetness to the flavour, and is a much more viscous liquid. As you are using a very high percentage of VG in your juices the e-liquid just can't wick up to the coil fast enough, especially at higher power when the coil burns all the available juice on the coil. Using a juice with at least 30% PG will make your juice less viscous and it will flow better. It might be worth experimenting with juices of differing mixes, from 40-60% PG to see what suits you best.

I've also just changed to high vg and finding intermittent burning taste. I did realize what was causing it but never thought of vodka to thin it

I just use the regular bottled water, nuke in the microwave to confirm its sterile. I figure if you have a hot shower and breath in the steam from the junk water that the local water company sells you, evian aint going to kill ye.

If pressed for a figure, I'd suggest starting at 5% ( 1.5ml for your 30ml ) and take it from there.
