Anyone been offered the free upgrade to win 10 ?, if so is there a catch. I had a notification yesterday offering me this upgrade.

Windows 7 and 8.1 users will have a year from 29 July to get free upgrade

I would wait until the first round of guinea pigs have found all the faults and microsoft fix them all

i installed windows 7 last night on my pc to fix ma dads nexus tablet oh it's so strange for me being a linux user for a few years

Windows tend to go good-bad-good-bad-good.

XP - good.
What's it called (Wispa? Twista?) - totally dreadful.
7 - good.
8 - bad.
8.1 - good (if you are teenager)
9 - planned to be totally useless and hair-pulling - bad - never got off the ground - I made this up.
10 - good?

Yeh i have it trying to force it on me now in the notification area of TaskBar

Didn't Buy the win 7 ultimate that i use ATM. Just grabbed the OEM that was leaked by a disgruntled MS employee and use a loader that show windows a OEM certificate at startup. Windows cant tell, says authenticated. i use a Dell certificate for my Dell laptop and a Acer certificate on my home built that has an ASUS sabertooth MB as i think Acer use Asus MB's on their machines.

Windows 10.... Not if i have pay the richest man in the world for it. Then be told i dont own my copy but rather 'lease it' from MS who can do what they like as well as withdraw it should they ever go MAD.

I got me a free upgrade to Gentoo...........wheeeeee!!!!

In all honesty, the clunkier interfaces, myrid bugs, constant patches and massive bloat make every new version of windoh!s feel like a downgrade.

I will wait well into this year before succumbing to the lure of a new OS - as others have said, let the guinea pigs download it and find the bugs first, and I'll capitalise on this and get a relatively bug-free version just before Christmas.
I'll bet you all the contents of my juice box that some major glitch will be discovered and sorted before then

Sounds like everyones is going down the sensible line, the very same line that I will be following.

I've only tried one OS when it was new (not released), I was one of the Vista Beta testers, I lasted all of 2 days before I uninstalled it.

Am I the only person who mourns the passing of Win3.1?

Ooo those were the days ...... I used to love windows 1 couldn't do a great deal but it never got hacked or messed up

i will just load it on a 2nd drive and boot it use it if dont like it wont use it ,i love Win 7 *shopping*
