Sounds like everyones is going down the sensible line, the very same line that I will be following. I've only tried one OS when it was new (not released), I was one of the Vista Beta testers, I lasted all of 2 days before I uninstalled it. Am I the only person who mourns the passing of Win3.1? Well........for me they had it right with XP. I still have it running on a little netbook

Fired up the desktop (win7) again after a few weeks, and got the 'invite' on the taskbar.
Anyone pulled the trigger on it yet?... or is it still too early?

I still consider it too early Resist for as long as possible. Like Kelloggs Crunchy Nut. I'm going to install Cortana regardless of Windows 10. She can navigate my way around the desktop and let me vape on.

I have also been offered it and will probably go the guinea pig route, but I do have Win 8.1 backed up to another drive.

I've been using the technical preview for months and it seems pretty stable at the moment as we near the RTM builds. Windows insiders are expected to be able to continue to use and receive newer builds after the RTM. I also have a fresh install of Windows 7 on another drive with the free upgrade accepted so I can get a license to clean install with

Win 10 has been around for a while in testing by thousands of people. The reports I hear are all generally good. The general release on 29 July is not a beta version, although I'm sure some bugs will be discovered once many millions are using it. That's par for the course. I plan on upgrading as soon as M$ give it to me. It has to be better than 8.1.

I don't want Win 10. Apparently those with the flag in the system tray will get it automatically when it's available - you get no choice.
Good news!! There's a (relatively) easy way to get rid of that flag and prevent an automatic update:
Go Control Panel/ Programs/ Programs and Features/ View installed updates - search there for 'KB3035583', right click and uninstall.
I've run Windows update since removing it and it doesn't seem to reappear on the list, but that is still possible. If it does reappear in the list just right click and 'hide'.
Now micro$0ft have no say in whether I should get Win 10 - they can't force that on me now, no way! It's my flippin PC ffs!!!!!!
