You have a month after installation to roll back to a previous version if you wish, also PC Magazine have a link to the download saving the wait.
Some good security changes, Defender now has anti virus protection, back up facilities and restore, plus activation is done through it as well (reports unable at the moment, but probably just busy)
One thing for anyone running Kaspersky internet suite, you need to download an update directly from the Kapersky site to get it running on Win 10, for some reason it disappears during the installation, once that file is run it automatically detects the key and reinstalls your licence

The wife will be my test subject. I'm going to wait a few months to upgrade my primary machine. as noted above by: car147You will have 30 days to Roll back to Windows 7 if you don't like Windows 10. After 30 days the windows 7 uninstall files are deleted and a Roll back attempt will fail.

A big improvement on either of the last OS Microsoft have come up with, infact the only time I had liked their OS was XP. I forced the upgrade on this 2 yr old Dell Inspirion Lap top, and have had only one slight issue where Kaspersky required a download to update itself to operate on Win 10.

Well, I got home from work and did my 5 mile walk and sat in the chair and thought sod it, let's see what this windows 10 is all about Made sure the bios and all main programs including antivirus was up to date Run the install program and it went through about an hour and a half of crap that it needed to go through Cooked and ate my tea whilst all this was going on. Then it finished and rebooted- needs some tweeking, tweeks required some signing out and back in again- re-updated antivirus upon its request Result = meh It'll take a little getting used to but the pc is noticeably snappier and everything ported over and seems to be working without issue so far Easiest upgrade I've done in a good while

i will just load it on a 2nd drive and boot it use it if dont like it wont use it ,i love Win 7 *shopping* Ya can't at least not straight away, the only way to accomplish that is to let the computer upgrade, make a DVD/USB copy of the OS installation files using the Media Creation Tool, then revert back to Win 7 (once it has authenticated the Win 10 installation). That way you can then use the DVD/USB to install a fresh copy on the 2nd drive. Another site says that if you download Belarc Advisor, you can find the Win 10 key, but not sure if that will work. As for the FREE bit - 1st you have to upgrade your machine by 28/07/2016, and get it authenticated, once that is done, then the copy is yours for: 1: As long as it is supported if it is a legally purchased copy of Win 10 2: As long as it is supported if your Win 7, 8.1 was a legally purchased copy 3: As long as the machine works as it does now, without major changes to hardware if your Win 7, 8.1 is an OEM copy, M$ may re-authorise it if you can prove that the major change was down to a major failure of said hardware - but don't hold your breath.

Now for the problems i found tried the upgrade, tiles half the tiles would not open 3 attempts gave up,so downloaded full copy did a clean install, wont accept CDkey, but will work fine you can skip that process on clean install like others ....now i am wondering as my cd key for win 7 is an upgrade disc key Now if you have CCleaner .Auslogics maybe few more the disc cleaner part is fine........................DONT use the reg cleaner yes i know what many will say,but its always been fine to remove old un-installed progs, have noticed that W10 uses netframework 1 !!! If you have used it you will find press on windows icon tiles may not appear or some will and most wont work opinion yes it does run bit smoother but then again its a fresh install and win 7 does till i add all my stuff hence why got 1tb of ssds, so opinion Well its a hash together of Win7 with Win8.1,one big Bug is i dont like ,to add my drives to the taskbar C/D, DVD drive as an example, when i locked the bar,if i selected and opend it all fine, on 10 you have to keep them squashed together as it shows all the folders,so now ther all squashed over by time date as having them in the middle is a mass of folders on task bar, unless you squash 2 of them ,then top part of the first folder top half shows and looks untidy........ for gaming it runs better then again i had to reinstal them so only did 2 of them BF4 and BFH, all 80gb of it, fresh install, yet seems to lag a bit mainly hitboxes are off a bit[ping 27] So after a brief 2 days of it,will say stick with win 7 if you have it i have 64 bit pro or with win 8,if you want the mix of Both then go for it or just plain inquisitive then try it........... will i keep it probably not ,may keep it on an old physical drive and look again later, was not a fan of win 8
