I think just about everything vaping is made in China, with I think the exception of some kit made in the USA ? I was wondering whilst trying to stay awake watching a film on my PC, that nothing appears to be made in Japan. Usually Japanese made stuff is superior, like capacitors and stuff for the computer parts. There is Japanese cotton used now in some new coils, but is there anything else ? Just wondering why Japan has not got in on the act since the vaping industry now is huge, and they are respected in the electronics field. Perhaps I need more coffee, as this day dreaming habit is getting out of hand, and tend to think of stuff that usually doesn't make any sense. Feel free to tell me to shut up...

its a good question, to which i dont know a 100% answer. They tend to concentrate on higher end stuff ever since they had the mother of all bubbles in the 80's/90's, and since that time have just trundled along as a zombie economy. (ring any bells? anyone...?) google "japans lost decade"....which quite frankly is recognised as two lost decades. They dont have cheap labour (in the chinese sense) anymore, still have tons of debt etc.

Thanks for taking the time to reply. Glad it is not quite so daft a question....it sounded fine in my head. But I guess most things are made these days in China, Taiwan and to some extent Japan. Still, I guess I am supporting the Chinese and the UK, since over the past few days I have spent a fortune (to me) on mod's, tanks and coils.

A very good question and I think vern hit the nail on the head, the Japanese are known for good quality electronic components etc, which would command a fair price tag, China would just clone whatever they produced within weeks and possibly hitting sales of the item severely.

The Japanese are big smokers and their economy is up a large creek with only some paddles sponsored by Sony. I don't think they can afford to do anything which might slow down smoking rates. Imagine it... less tax and people living longer... who would want that sort of madness?

Even the Japanese now look to manufacture in china (like sony starting a battery plant). Its is all about labor costs and staying competitive, while maintaining profits. Apple make I-phones etc in china or was it Samsung smart phones? maybe it was both. Saw something about the working conditions inside the plants, it was definitely Apple as they made a big thing out of Apple's fair wage/treatment policy for foreign based manufacturing. That's seems to be the way of things. As soon as a country becomes 'developed', it losses the cheap labor that fueled the development.

Most Japanese tech items are the Apple thing - designed in California (or Japan) made in China

Maybe the batteries are the only things manufactured in Japan that we use, but its true that even those could be moving into plants in China. Its a shame that Sony kept trying to compete with Apple over the mp3 players for many years releasing so many models and now it seems the mp3 market has slowed down even and alot just use their phones for music! Theres still occasionally the new ipod nanos etc though, but the larger model has not really changed for years. Seems sony is good for higher end items still though. Electronics seems to last a shorter time span now until theres new technology and maybe in the past were made more robust than now so the cheaper items are more popular.
Its quite strange in a way how a big chunk of the market have moved to doing everything from smartphones now, like watching tv is done through streaming alot more, hifis don't seem as popular, instead maybe bluetooth speakers are everywhere and desktops are alot less popular, even laptops are less in favour of tablet pcs. Cameras and camcorders too seem to be replaced by smartphones in many cases. Seems quality alot of the time is being sacrificed for convenience, price and size. But then if the phone breaks its a big issue! Also alot more relying on cloud storage now instead of storing on removable media which can be less secure in some ways.

This is way I have gone, I use my Tab for Music and 'in bed' TV and have 60W(peak120W) 2.1 Bluetooth speakers in the lounge and 10W Bluetooth speaker in bedroom. I subscribe to Spotify for add free access to there vast collection, and just make up playlists of artists i like, so i can play them whenever. It also lets you download to store on device so can be used when there's no WiFi available. Not sure about the Trust 'Titan' speakers(company HQ in Netherlands) , but I know the smaller speaker is 'Designed' in UK and made in China. Tablet also made in China.(Only recommended for those who are happy to flash Custom ROM to a new tab). Got a feeling we will see our goods coming from China for many years to come due to population size and other factors that may develop over next decade.

Looks good! yea china are producing some great tablets these days, good spec and great prices, also there was a while when hifis were getting bigger and bigger by having dual cassette, loads of cds etc but theyre not even needed nowadays. Some big brands in China also getting recognition elsewhere for phones and tablets like Xiaomi, Huawei.
