As for the smokies - what wire is needed to replace the coil? Is it easy to get hold of? It's not possible to replace the coil on the CE3 unless you get a borrowers soldering iron and possess the eye of a hawk and the steady hand of a brain surgeon. If you can draw on a grain of rice then maybe. I was joking about replacing the wick. Because of it's poor design when you take the head off as stated in the instruction card, the wick will most likely pull off the coil. You can put the wick back in very carefully by rotating and threading it back through the coil if you got the patience of a saint.

So sorry to veer off topic slightly...... take a look here to see pics of the smoky taken apart... its not as easily done as with the CE4+ / stardusts ...wire would be the same 0.16 or similar They're not the same as mine...The ones I have were advertised as smokimisers from HC and have the coil at the top: Definitely look re-coil/wick able..?

Have you got a link to the HC item? Those look like CE2's to me with wicks hanging out on either side and wires going down to the battery end..
The original smokeymisers are CE3..But different sites use so much jargon these days and might have called a CE2 with a smoky plastic smokeymizer.
You should be able to rebuild those with a bit of practice and a lot of patience. You will need both resistance wire (for the coil) and zero resistance wire for those.

HC don't have anymore now Macca, they're the Royal Smokers what I think of as Clearomiser's. . . I get confused with the CE2/CE3 thingy, so I won't speculate on what number they are.

I have done a few searches and have become very confused. The good news is that my EVS turned up today and initial impression is one of wonderment! If it continues to perform I will be making this my preferred device. The biggest pita with vaping for me has been not knowing how much juice is left, and then the mad rush of filling cartos immediately before going out. This not only solves that problem but it gives a great vape (at the moment) and looks pretty damn good! Just need a connector so I can plonk it on my LT. As for rewicking the smoki-whatevertheyare-misers, I will hold off for now and when the time comes to rewick the EVS I shall do a comparison.

the stardust is fairly straight forward to rewick/coil so i would just keep a few of these on the go if i were you ...smokys just wont be worth the hassle

If you are a total nerd like me, you might like this. It's a free ebook on braids, knots and splices (particularly the back splice, or single crown knot for the ends). Get the version with images. I know it's totally unnecessary, but I quite fancy doing a neat job. Fiddly though. www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/13510

So where is the best place to get the wick and coil from? I seem to remember there is a site selling 5 metres of wick for £6 odd, which seems quite cheap so I may be wrong (Can't remember where now but will search for a link later) I understand Dee has a healthy supply of the coil - is it both resistive and none resistive needed? (0.16 & 0.20 resp.) 2risky - I reckon a fancy wick pattern will add a subtle style to the stardust!

Cheers mate! I fully intended to look for that link but got carried away reading the other posts! Hope Dee doesn't get hacked off with PM's from randomers? Disappointingly healthy?! Bet you never thought you'd say that about any vaping equipment??? hahahaha
