What is the mesh needed for? Do I need some for the stardust? If so then I'm in (If Gordy is doing a GB?)

The mesh is an alternative wicking material, if you oxidise the surface to prevent it from conducting.
I don't think Dee will mind, I'm pretty random and she seemed happy enough to get rid of it, you can ask anyway.

After no response from dee ive had a quick look and found this wire:
0.160mm Bare Nickel Chrome Wire (also known as Nichrome Wire / Hot Wire Cutter / Foam Cutter / Heater Wire / Element Wire) Data: approx 53.7 ohms per metre.
Is this the right wire to use as coil on the stardust?

I'll send Dee a text now Giz . . . she's got miles of wire. Just that she doesn't get on the forum as frequently as she would like to . . . text sent, if she still doesn't get back to you, then she must be super busy I'd think. That is the right stuff if you can't get hold of Dee.

Because of the kindness of the people in this thread sharing their knowledge I can now confirm that even an idiot can rebuild an EVS.
I have 3 ohms (Perpy likes to know these things) and smoke is only coming out of one end, although I haven't tried the ecig yet.
It's vaping fine.
Thanks people.

Hi all, I need some help. I dismantled my stardust yesterday, changed the wick and coil. I then put it back together and filled with juice. I then vaped with it, no problem. Or so I thought. If I vape just now and again, it works perfect. If however, I vape quite often, I seem to get a lot of burning taste in the draw. I dont understand why. Any ideas guys, cause I dont think I'll be able to use it much longer. The burning taste is disgusting.

Either not wicking properly or resistance is too low.

Hi macca, Does the amount of turns you make on the coil make any difference. I made 4 turns.

Or does it mater how close together the turns are. Also, it feels like the juice isn't getting to the centre of the wick. Is it possible I have the whole thing pushed too tightly together.

I have yet to rebuild a coil, but I do know that the resistance is only determined by the total length of current carrying wire i.e from where it leaves the +ve terminal of the carto to where it contacts the -ve terminal. The effect of the diameter of coil, pitch of the spiral and the thickness of the wick would be useful to know as I'm sure the same applies to all rebuildables.

Need more details to determine the cause..
1. What wire did you use?
2. What diameter wick did you use?
3. How did you wind the wire over the wick ie., did you use a pin support or juct wound the coil tightly?
4.What voltage are you vaping at?
5. Did you dry burn it?
The windings should not touch each other..
