Scary list, lol, but very strong support for the fact that all the rubbish said about e-cigs just isn't true. The more facts like this are known, the more people will wake up to that it's big business behind the rumours.

Would be interesting to add numb of fires caused by ciggy.s to that list 18,092 caused by cooking appliances - includes fires caused by overcooking. 2,360 caused by smoking materials. ( info from here) However, cigarettes are still the most deadly cause of house fire fatalities ( info from here) So cigarettes would top the list - if they were classed as domestic appliances lol

Problem with these figures is that it's domestic appliances that are always connected to the mains. This would rule out laptops, tablets, phones and of course vapourizers. Would like to see the figures for all electrical and electronic goods.

Shocking that white goods appear to be high on the lists, if not user error , that the manufactures of said products should be taken to task on these figures.
Great to see E cigs, and battery powered devices are doing very well, so much for one papers pish, trying to claim e cig fires were raising! Which muppet came up with that one, of coarse it will rise as more switch to vaping than smoking!

Be wary - a fair number of people will equate smoking to ecigs when there's a box to tick against "smoking".
Surprisingly, extension leads don't figure here - talking to friends in the service they are common and also the two house / flat fires that I know well from recent years have been caused by extension leads (both approved by local fire safety folks... one by overloading and the other just misfortune)
Interesting to see how vehicle fires have decreased.

Stands to reason, more people have washing machines than e-cigs..... Check your smoke alarms, there positions and your exit....put one next to your charging area too for the sake of a fiver.

Luckily for me, in all the years we have had appliances in the kitchen, none of them have ever caught fire, conked out yes, but burst into flames ? No. What also amuses me is the papers harping on about a few e-cig's catching fire/exploding when on charge, and ever eager to push that e-cig's are dangerous and bad for your health. The thing is, my Doctor and the Government were constantly telling me that I should give up smoking. Well, I did (although I restarted again briefly) and now they and the tobacco industry are not happy with me because they are losing revenue...a lot of it. I can't win. Never as much fuss made when iPhones catch fire or explode
