"YiHi's like the IPV & SX scorch at these temps, I used to think it was just different calibration by have read quite a few threads about them only adjusting the temp twice a second so it may just be a larger swing in temperature that causes it and the pulse frequency modulation on the output would just make that effect worse." lol? My IPV4 does not scorch once I find the proper reference/calibration/burning point and stick to it.

Yes, the wattage you set the device to is independant of the temperature setting for the wick burning. Maybe start 30F below what the burn char test tells you and work your way up The liquid is acting like a coolant on the coil, so when it starts to dry up, the cooling decreases and the coil temp goes up. Then it starts regulating/protecting/controlling

It`s about 460F ish on the DNA40 and the Kangxin, but it`s a good bit lower on the IPV4. Still works perfectly for me, just a different reference to use. They aren`t all the same, although of course they should be. But like I said, it still works the same with a different reference point. The OP asked us to stick to the question, but you don't seem to want to. You said here that the IPV temperatures were different, need to set the temp limit lower, then you change your mind that's why lol You did the same thing about needing special wicking. Apologies if I read it wrong, I can do that sometimes, but that's what I understood anyway. I suggest we dope this childish bickering it is not helping anyone.

Is it my imagination (what little I have left), but I am sure that with these `nickel` coils I can taste a change in my normal juices.
Operating at 450F @ 15 watts using a coil of Ni200, checked at 0.12ohms. Cotton (Jap) wick.
Is it me or do other have same results ?

Obviously what I meant was that the IPV4 read and displayed the temeratures differently, even though it was bound to be the same actual temperature. I didn`t change my mind at all. Didn`t mention "special" wicking, just efficient wicking, two different things entirely. You are the one who is bickering here.

Bit like the spatter you get pouring water into a very hot pan.

I don't think so robby but I feel it's best to call it 6 one and 1/2 doz of the other and do as VapingBad said because it's not good to have two long standing and respected members who have a lot offer the rest of us bickering.

It's constant mate, until I up it to 510-520 then seems to be ok, it never reaches that temp anyway, the max I've seen it go is around the 390 mark. It's all a mystery to me maybe why I'm still not sold on it

That's weird @tedster never heard of anything like that, it'll be interesting to see if anyone else has experience it.
