……………….I have not been around of late. It is 3 years now since I stopped smoking and changed over to 100% vaping. The longer I am vaping, the more I realise just how much smoking was costing me and I don’t mean just in financial terms. Health and general lifestyle was all held back and ofcourse the financial costs did not help any. Now that my general health and lifestyle has much improved, I have started looking to the future with a much more positive frame of mind.
With these thoughts in mind and after years of thinking about it, I have finally taken the plunge and made a start on what has turned out to be my biggest project to date. The revamping of my back and front gardens.
It started with getting a new shed late last year and which is now 3/4 workshop and 1/4 vape den. The new shed is round the side of the house and once that was completed, the old shed that was in the garden, was removed, freeing up a lot of area for the growing of produce.
However my back garden is liable to flood in heavy rain, so raised beds and raised pathways are required for any serious gardening. I am now halfway through building 4 raised beds, each of which will take 3.5 ton of topsoil. There is also a 3 bin compost heap and about 60 feet of pathways to complete.
This set up will allow me to do a 4 crop rotation system and give us a wide variety of fresh veg throughout the year. We will not be able to wholly feed ourselves but at least we will know that everything from the garden will be truly fresh and we will not be picking any more than we can use for each meal. So no wastage other than what goes into the compost. The front garden will be roses and other highly scented flowers.
3 years ago, vaping was the answer to my prayers of a permanent way of stopping smoking. But, for me, Vaping is so much more. Although the act of vaping has nothing to do with what I do, the effects of it have everything to do with my ability to do everything better than I could ever do before.
Today Vaping is a Key to a much better life. A key that has opened many doors that smoking and therefore my health and my finances had closed on me. It is also good to see that Vapers no longer “stand out in the crowd”, but have simply become “part of the crowd”.

Hi THANKS Guys. The daft thing is that I thought that raised beds would make gardening easier. No one told me that they are dammed hard work to start off with!!!! But no work today. There has been that much rain here that I could easily open a Trout Farm, the garden is that flooded.

Thank you for all your "likes". You really are a very nice bunch to know and AAE-C really is the nicest forum I have ever known. Just as I had a steep learning curve to master vaping 3 years ago, vegetable growing is the new learning curve that I am now trying to get to grips with before I start sowing next January by which time the garden will be ready to receive its first seedlings. Although my wife still enjoys her holidays abroad, I much prefer to sit in the garden, watching the wildlife share my surroundings and listening to my still smoking neighbours coughing their lungs up while they try to pollute my atmosphere! Well I had a wee holiday from the garden today, but tomorrow it is back to wellies and a pick and shovel. Again thank you one and all.

lobeydosser it was the same for me, smoking was costing me so much & not just financially. Your garden is starting to look fantastic I almost have to pinch myself to make me waken up to prove that I am not asleep and dreaming, but I still cannot believe that such a simple act of changing the way I do something, IE Vaping instead of smoking, can have such a marked change in my whole life.
If my life never gets any better than this, this will do me quite nicely, thank you!

I finally finished my Compost Bins today. So now I am stalking Mrs Lobey when she is preparing the dinner, so that I can grab the peelings to fill me bins. Just got the raised beds to finish and then I start on running electricity into the greenhouse.
