Looking back over my receipts, it is exactly one year today since I called in the contractors to level my garden rubbish heap, so that I could start making something decent of it. I now realise that it will never be truly finished because I will be trying different plants and different ways of doing things, but one year down the line, apart from a 10 minute "weed patrol" each morning and the odd row of seeds getting planted now and then just to give me some succession crops, the garden now looks after itself and allows me loads of vaping time whilst enjoying the view from the comfort of my deck lounger. If I knew before I started, that all the blood sweat and tears would end like this, would I do it all again? You bet I would!!!!!

Now that summer is well on its way and we have already had Radishes, Strawberries, Spring Onions and Cabbages from the garden, we are looking forward to the rest of the veg maturing. The Rhubarb is almost there along with the Broad Beans, Beetroots and Early Potatoes. All the other veg is growing well although the Swedes and Coloured Cauliflowers are still in their early stages.

Apart from the greenhouse that I got second hand for 50 quid about 10 years ago and the back wall that my neighbour built, every single thing you can see, came from the money I have saved from changing from smoking to Vaping. So really, my garden has not cost me a penny.
But ain't that just typical? You start one "hobby" and that opens up a door that leads you to so many new pursuits. Little could I imagine 4 years ago when I was struggling with a cig-a-like to quit the evil weed, that today I would have green fingers (the garden), smashed fingers (trying maintenance on the caravan, paid for with vaping savings) and poncing about in a newish car.
Vaping, for me, has opened the door to a world I simply could not afford to enter. Who knows how much further that door will open in the future.

Well, last June when the above pic was taken, I was under the impression that with everything now finished, I could just sit back and enjoy all these wonderful harvests that my labours had planted. Ha, Ha. What a silly and thoughtless idea!!!!! All the garden now shows up is are the areas that need more work and those elements that are missing from the garden as it now stands. Looking at it today, I guess I can safely say that Stage One is now completed and as we head into Winter, it is time to order up the "mountain" of wood that I will need to complete Stage Two. That requires the lawn to be dug up and replaced with a geometric design with raised corners that are surmounted by Obelisks that will support scented climbers and then all the plants, at present on the edge of the decking, replanted within the design. After that is completed, some of the decking edging will be removed to allow me to build a yacht type railing along the decking. So Stage Two will take up 2016/17 and Stage Three, 2017/18 which will be the front garden and as that involves the removal of about 6 trees and several large hedges, I am giving myself a full year to complete. It is quite a shock to the system to go from "time to relaxyvoo" to, "my gawd, but I have some serious labouring to do"!
