Hmm - having read this thread, I think I'll just get used to my Sigelei 75w TC mod when it turns up, and worry about the TC bit later. Never say never, though . . .

Still not convinced . . . may have to buy some Ni200 for a rainy holiday afternoon . . . I suppose if I have TC on the new mod, it would be churlish not to try it . . . what are the tangible benefits though? Discuss.

I've had a few so don't get your hopes up. IMO the biggest benefit is that you can tune the temperature to the sweet spot of you liquid, not everyone agrees with this, but I am by no means alone in this opinion either. Other big benefits are cleaner wicks and coils (also helps the flavour) you can wash and dry your wick like we used to do with silica. I can now use a steel tank on my gennies without fear of nasty dry hits. On Evolv DNAs you get a much faster heat up, it is temperature limited so vapes the same with a cool or hot tank, it boosts power for upto a second or until 100 F under set temp whichever comes first. I reckon this often saves me a primer puff, but makes me intolerant of delays from other mods. Battery life is a bit better to. Sure I have forgotten some.

Hmmm - getting tempted here, but not sure I can remember how to wind spaced coils (is this right - I can't do microcoils, right?). Might have to splurge on some Ni wire over the weekend . . .

Oh and from what I can remember the easiest way to space coils is the screw that holds a 13A socket to the pattress

You can do micro-coils, but they are more problematic with shorts between loops especially after a knock so better avoided at first at least and as DiscoDes said twisted is very good for coils that you pull a wick through. Through hole terminals are more problematic than screw head terminals as you need a solid connection but clone atties often have sharp bottoms on the post screws (you can sand them smooth) that make it easy the sheer the wire.

Slightly spaced coils aren`t really a problem chykensa. I find that when you have wound the coil it more more less takes care of itself. I use Muji cotton strips and you very soon get to know how much works best without distorting the coil too much. Replacing the coil is a 5 minute job when you need to. I only need to change mine every two weeks or so and then I dont really NEED to change them, after a quick rinse under the tap, the wick is more or less spotless. The coil will be slightly gunged at that point though, but very little really

making a nice gapped coil is dead easy chykensa - I borrowed pbusardo's method and it works perfectly. First you build a microcoil - then , whilst the coil is still on your coiling rod, keep hold of one leg and pull the other one out a few inches stretching your coil out. Then squeeze the coil back together with your fingers - it's still on the rod at this point. The coil won't go back to being a micro coil but will have a perfect row of little gaps

Can Nickel coils be dry-burned like Kanthal, or will I need to keep on replacing them? Anything for an easy life!
