I have a couple of TC mods on the way and a couple of RBA decks for my Subtank.
I also have a Magma type dripper from FT on the way which intend to use nickel builds in.
What AWG Nickel wire do I need to re-coil these please?
Also I see hard finished, soft finished, ribbon types, which do I need?

I use .2 and .25 for simple coils, maybe a good place to start? I think they are hard finished, but it`s not critical I use a Magma for 90% of the time.

Smaller number = Thicker wire

29 guage I find gives the best all round performance thinner wire will allow for shorter coils if wrapping a gennie or similar or if wrapping nano coils thicker wires will allow for larger coils but needs some battery oomph to heat them quick enough
I use 29guage- 5 wraps around a 3mm former and that will give me between .09 & .12ohms
If I'm nickel wrapping a subtank for for clouds then I'll use 26 guage - 7 wraps on a 3mm former gives me .08-.10ohms

Stealthvape seem pretty reasonably priced with their 50% more for free offer.
My TC is on its way still so don't take this as tested by any means at all, but I went for .2 and .25 to try duel coils, and .3 and .35 to use on single coils(Like large 4mm coils when possible)
Have I made the right choices??????

Yep, good choices My 4mm diameter coils work very well even with .2 and .25 wire for flavour. Experiment

I've been playing with steam-engine and I can't seem to understand how I can make a dual coil hit a warm spot under ridiculous watts. Also, it says I need 55 thousand wraps!!!???? What have I misunderstood here? (I'm not thick, but something I am not seeing). I got an eVic VT yesterday, but not gonna play with it until I now what I'm doing wire wise. Help Please With a cherry on top.......

hahaha
Do 7 or 8 wraps of 3.5 or 4mm .25 nickel wire. Should end up in the .25 to .3 range. Do two of them and you should end up with about .15 ohms for dual.

Ok. Cheers robby Start playing tomorrow. Or Sunday. Or when time allows. So many things to do, so little time to play......

Here you go timFor duel coils, change from 'single coil' to 'duel coil' in bit that says 'SETUP' For duel coil I would change 'TARGET RESISTANCE' to be closer to the min resistance that your mod will allow. Then its just diameter of the coil and diameter of the wire to set that you are going to use It does work in a kinda strange way, in that you have to play with the 'TARGET RESISTANCE' number until it shows an acceptable number of wraps needed. So if you end up a lower resistance than your mod will work with to get your 7-10 wraps, then you need to change to a thinner wire, or a smaller change can be got from changing the diameter of coil used(larger coil giving you longer piece of wire used=more resistance). So I change Setup to Duel coil and I find i need 13.5 wraps for same .15 Ohm So seeing if can get wraps down without changing wire, I lower target resistance to .11 (in pic below) which is just above the min .1 that my mod will allow. Now i see that i can get away with a 10 wrap coil, on the 3mm former, which is just about acceptable to me and I dont need to get out the .2 wire. I wont do another screen shot but if you now change to using a 4mm diameter coil(like i like to use) you will only need 8 wraps to be at the target resistance of .11 Ohm. you can improve the accuracy a bit by changing 'leg length' to something more like 8mm-12mm but that depends on the atty and whether you need long legs for it or not.

Cheers hijack, although I know how to use steam-engine I just wanted slightly higher ohms to start off. Seems I'd need a bigger atty though to fit all the wraps in Not had a chance to experiment yet, but will just build to what I can fit in. In the meantime, I will use the eGo one with pre-made heads. Edit: Good explanation on how to use it

Well I thought I might as well run through it as 55,000 wraps was a bit of a miscalculation somewhere
