They can be pulsed chykensa but you cant get them bright red hot, got to watch them very carefully . Just a very dull red is as far as you can go Is that sufficient heat to clean the gunk off them like a redhot burn with Kanthal robby?

It's an either or choice chykensa you can either dry burn without the wick or in a genny (dark red turn temp limiting off and the wattage right down & do it in low light) or wash the wick and coil and dry with temp limiting on (this does boil the water around the coil and works well).

Thank you VapingBad - as usual a direct and informative reply. I'm edging ever closer to having a look around for Ni wire. Will it fit in a Kayun for example, or an Orchid? Or am I needing a specialised tank for using Ni wire?

Or am I needing a specialised tank for using Ni wire? Kayfuns work well (not so much the V4 with the std spring) Orchids are a PITA, I am vaping one now with nickel, but I had to sand the screw bottoms smooth, use grub screws in a couple of the post holes, could have used longer screws and use tipple 0.16 mm twisted to get a reliable connection. The coils ended up huge, a good vape, but because they are touching now and again the vape quality goes when it gets knocked and I have to open it up and strum the coils to clear a short between loops. It is just the poorly machined post holes and the need for thinner wire with dual coils that are the problem it is a tricky balance between tightening enough to get a good connection and not sheering the wires. Some people have used thick kanthal below the nickel to cushion the connection and some double the wire over for more strength. This is from before I changed a couple of screws for grub screws

I was hoping that enough testing had been done for TC to be understandable, but it is still in it's infancy. Probably because so many developers have different methods of reaching the end result. It reminds be of betamax (best) v VHS (cr*p) in the old days. The one with the best advertising wins, and we will be stuck with it.

Not this time, I'd put money on Evolve leading the market and seeing off the other pretenders, unless you want cheap and cheerful Chinese tat

I don't think the metaphor works as the tape would be the coil material in this case and they all use Ni200, only a couple have their own wire and they are not mass market.

They just R&D and get ripped off.

Actually the metaphor IS correct, VHS, Betamax & V2000 all used tape, it was HOW they used it & what they made it do. The original metaphor was relating video to temp sensing/control/limiting..... mods (I believe)
