i have been vaping for two and a half years and was a heavy smoker for over forty years before that. In all my years as a smoker all I sought from a cigarette was flavour and of course my nicotine hit and indeed I was never aware of any smoker who was interested in producing vast clouds of smoke. As a vaper, my requirements are very similar plus I want reliability, relative cheapness and faff-free. Although I have tried most devices and tank systems in my time, I have settled for the past year on my 2 Provari v2.5 minis and 4 old school iClear 30 tanks. I get 100% reliability from all of these devices and the iClear 30 and heads are cheap as chips from Fasttech so at 40p for a head, I don't worry about recoiling and simply replace every week or so. I have always vaped at around 8 watts on a 1.8 ohm coil and find this gives me all the flavour, throat hit and vapour I need or want. So, what am I missing out on????

Firstly, I agree with Greg @yinyang, if you are happy and your current setup is working - you aren't missing out at all. Secondly I'll try and break down what you ask and answer best I can... For me, even on the iclears, protanks, aerotanks etc - I was always looking for more. Even on the Kayfuns (which were a revelation for me), I was looking to push them to the limits in terms of flavour and in turn, big vapour went along with that. I always wanted more and it wasn't until I ventured into the realms of dripping, building low, getting a thick, smooth & flavourful vaper did I think 'yep, thats what ive been after for 4 years'. For me, vaping at low ohms (although mostly temp controlled now) just hits the spot. I know some may chase clouds and do it for show but thats the nature of anything, there will always be extremists and the fads that go along with it. I sub ohm, safely, and my main goal is that flavour but I would be lying if I said there isnt a certain satisfaction of seeing a plume of vapour coming out Vaping for me is more than smoking ever was, at first, like you, I was just looking for a replacement for ciggerettes. Now vaping is a major hobby of mine, I enjoy the building, the mixing, the community and always exploring the new bits and bobs and testing the performance of things, just in case something can offer me something else. Hope that offers you everything you wanted to know.

Hi @yinyang. I to was a heavy Smoker for a Looooooong time, and iClear 30 was my preferred Tank for almost 2 years. I got a simple Dripper to try re-coiling, and struggled to Coil and wick. This was mainly to give me summit to do with my hands, as I Smoked Roll Up's and missed the action of Baccy, Skins and making stuff, so I Dripped in the evenings and at weekends. When I Coiled and wicked a "decent" Vape I almost blew my head off with Nicotine (around 0.8 oHm) as I used my normal juice at 16mg strength. I got some 6mg for Dripping and got a re-buildable Tank. A Kayfunalike+ from Fasttech was the best by far for me. I now Vape mainly on re-buildable Tanks or Squonkers, but was quite happy with iClear 30, I'm just happier withy re-buildables. I quite like the messing about, but it's not for everyone, and I don't go below 0.8 oHm on anything, and usually stick to 1.2-1.8 oHm on my Tanks anyway. If you are happy, stick there. If you would like to try Coiling then give it a go (make sure you have an iClear filled though, as it can be a frustrating learning curve). Check out basic Battery Safety and treat it as an "experiment" 1m of Kanthal goes a loooooooong way, so don't get 10m of anything.

I enjoy sub ohming more, I find the "old style" tanks too tight a draw. I still use them now and again but theirs no where even close to that lovely open draw I'm getting these days. When I smoked I was always disappointed by the amount of smoke I got, now it's almost like magic, everyday I get that daft smile, like wow look at that . Bonus is also the flavour

Don't get me wrong keepitgoin I have been down the dripping and rba road many times and have had kayfuns, squapes, rebuildable cartos etc and never had any trouble with coiling. I just prefer faff-free vaping and to be honest I find the iclear 30 gives me all I need. I was just wondering what the attraction of 0.4 ohm coils and devices that supply over 100 watts of power was.

@yinyang I never go much higher than 40w on any mod. I dislike a "hot" vape or even a warm one. It's IMO not all about power

Nothing in all likelihood @yinyang, but it is nice to try new stuff just to keep the interest fresh. The iSub G is a good way of dipping your toes into sub ohm waters . . . myepack.co.uk/clearomizers/isub-g-tank.htmlYou may enjoy it, you may not - just make sure you have something suitable to use it on is the only advice I give.

I've just borrowed a mate a sub tank set up (he's been vaping for 2 years, istick and protank) Gave him a solara and a subtank nano, he can not believe what he has been missing out on, nic has gone from 18 to 6 and he is buzzing off the flavour! Give it a whirl, theres plenty of bargains in the classies, if its not for you sell it on again Cheers Dave

Well @yinyang I have only just ventured into rebuildables and subtanks a couple of weeks ago and I'm loving it. I hadn't realised that vaping was going to be so different with these than what I was using before. I still have some little iclear 16's and a nautilus mini but after just a couple of weeks using the subtanks and my lemo drop I am finding that I cannot go back to the iclears & nautilus now as they just are not doing it for me anymore. They are too tight a draw for me now. I am preferring the airier draw and am using ohms between .8 and 1 and have my mods set to between 16 & 18 watts. I am not concerned with blowing loads of clouds even though I know I am producing more now, but the flavour is just so much better now in my opinion. And it is just wonderfully fab

@yinyang p2.5 will fire down to 0.9 although its the 3.5A limit that will hinder. If you want to try out subohming just to make sure you aren't missing out. My recommendation would be: smok m65 from here £20 - allaboute-cigarettes.proboards.com/thread/55713/price-drop?page=1&scrollTo=975457subtank mini £25 - allaboute-cigarettes.proboards.com/thread/55926/tanks-items-added-final-price?page=1&scrollTo=969585Pick up a bottle of high VG juice from classies to your taste, from the internet or a local B&M. The subtank has a coil 1.5ohm that will work with your p2.5, and a sub ohm for you to give that a whirl There is also an bra that comes with a couple of coils to dip your feet if you wish. Anything you don't like will be able to be moved on at not too much less, so nothing ventured, nothing gained and all that. Plus there's all of us here if you get stuck with anything Good luck bud, IMO, you won't regret giving it a whirl.
