Quahog is the Narragansett Indian name for a clam and is frequently used here in RI. I don't watch much television anymore, but when I did I preferred British show to American one. My favorites were: Fawlty Towers Talking of faulty towers, I saw a program the other day where they were talking about the shows history. A US remake was planned (the same/similar to the recent "shamless" debacle) and they decide it would only work in the US if (of all people)basil wasn't in it as he wouldn't be understood properly by a US audience.... safe to say the remake was never made

Steptoe and Son was remade over here as Sanford and Son. I never saw Steptoe and Son, so I can't make a comparison.
John Cleese was great as Basil. The poor guy was heading for a nervous breakdown or a heart attack. I believe that Prunela Scales, played his wife. It was a good combination of her calmness and his nervousness.
Edit: John Cleese was Basil Fawlty. IMO, no one else could ever play that role as well as he did.

I liked the first season of Spartacus. The second season was ok, but I have only watched a couple of episodes of the third season. It doesn't appeal to me.

I've watched all of that but there's something "missing" from it. And I adore Steve Buscemi, his performance in Fargo was brilliant! I think they had to kill off the young pretender in BE for the sake of a sensational hook for the next season.

Yup, Boardwalk Empire, the first season was great, but I didn't watch much of the second season. The show is very loosely based on the life of Nucky Johnson, who ran Atlantic City, New Jersey for many years and had connections with the Mob.
Scyl, Steve Buscemi was great in Fargo, but also in the Sopranos.

Guys and gals,
On this subject, I am king. The best shows to watch on tv is as follows, but please bear in mind, this is not in any particular order and some of these are older tv shows. The king of all tv at the moment is Homeland. If you have not watched this yet, you must. This is my highest recommendation at the moment.
24 Sopranos Homeland Friends The wire Supernatural Ncis Csi Csi miami Csi new york Ncis los angeles Boardwalk empire Game of thrones Smallville Greys anatomy Private practice Er Criminal minds Fringe True blood Sons of anarchy Blue bloods Band of brothers The pacific Sherlock Spooks Top gear Luther X-files Prison break Lost Battlestar gallactica Friday night lights
And yes, I have watched all of the above. And yes, I need to get out more. And yes, most of these are from the usa.
Seriously, you must watch Homeland. Top drawer. Lol
