Hello - pretty sure I'm about to make the newbie gaff of asking a question thats been asked a gazillion and one times before but I have been reading threads before posting honest! I've probably read too much now hence being utterly confused and stuck (though being confused is nothing at all new for me lol)
I am a very heavy smoker, have been for over 30 years, currently I am smoking Lambert & Butler Silver at around 40 a day. I don't really want to quit smoking however I would like to smoke more healthily (& cheaply) so I'm looking at switching to digital as a way to keep the bits of smoking that I still enjoy but ditch the tar and other unhealthy stuff.
My lifestyle at the moment is very stressful and incredibly busy, I work and am currently doing 100 mile round trips every 10 days to look after my mum who is going through chemo, add to that I've reached the delightful time of life whereby I feel like I am losing my marbles on a daily basis and frequently forget where I've put stuff and what I'm doing next lol
I bought a 10motives disposable at Tesco for use at the hospital and around my mum (a lifelong non smoker) and I get on alright with it when I use it - although its not really strong enough for me it solves the problem of giving me a "fix" until I can light up properly.
I can see so many advantages to making the switch to ecigs that I'm keen to do so - however- realistically knowing me verrrrrrrrry well unless I can do so with no faffing about the potential for this to be a bit of a fad rather than a life long change is rather high.
My dream ecig solution would be an ecig that performs exactly like my analogue cigarettes do, lasts all day long without recharging (happy to recharge overnight) preferably which can be mains charged as well as usb charged, and that I don't need to keep filling up with juice several times a day with the kind of use it would get from me with my heavy habit.
I like the 10motives feel, size, and ease of use, just drag and puff away, so something similar would be ideal, however I would like a stronger hit and maybe even the opportunity to try different flavours.
I never ever got on with rollies, never had the patience to roll enough for the day the night before or to faff about rolling one every time I want a fag - hence 40 a day analogues - so spending time getting the next days egigs ready is not something that I can see me doing for long.
Is my best solution just to buy disposables like I do ordinary fags now? Or is there a rechargeable version with ready filled cartridges which would also give me the option to try different strengths and flavours?
What would you recommend for me?

No matter what you eventually buy, there is an element of faff involved - whether it's charging batteries (and you're going to need at least two to get a 40 a day habit satisfied) or filling cartos/tanks/whatever and so on. Achieving the hit you currently experience is not that difficult - there are many devices to choose from, some of which may suit you better than others, and it's the discovery of which battery/device/juice suits you that can prove, sometimes, to be a stumbling block. Las week, vapourtrails.tv featured a bloke in much the same position as yourself - brand new to e-cigs and wondering what to do. You can watch it at www.vapourtrails.tv/?p=3386 to see how he got on and what his thoughts were. Similarly, on tonight's Haze Hour, Keith - who is our "man on the clapham omnibus" - will be looking at his favourite devices to sit on an eGo style battery - and Keith is as anti-faff as any person breathing. I hope these two programmes might help you...

If you bought a kit, say the riva 1100 off WWW.vapeescape.co.uk which has 2 batteries, they will last you well over a day, no problem. Then sugggest getting a tank and carto, which lasts for many hours. Being new, what you think of as faff soon becomes a 20 second pleasure. Like refilling a tank, or changing a battery.

you can always buy a few cartomizers and like brian says the riva kit 1100 fill the cartomizers of an evening with the same or different flavours then the only faff you have to do is screw them on and off over the day the filling of cartomizers is easy and various methods can be forund on youtube. or you could jump right in and go for the infamous lavatube and tank, the batteries last me well over the day for a chain vaper and the tanks once filled (I use three) will last for a couple of days for me (each one that is). There will be others along soon enough with their ideas all are as good By the way Welcome to the wonderful world of vaping

Hello & welcome Celia I'd recommend the same as Brian - a Riva 1100. If you buy from the supplier that Brian linked to, use discount code allabout for 10% off & ask at check out for the atomisers to be swapped for cartomisers. You will also need to buy some e-liquid. This video shows how easy it is to fill cartomisers -

Welcome Celia,
There are many ex heavy smokers here, and all of them started off confused.
Take a few days finding the right kit. Obviously you'll need batteries heavy enough to last you all day, and you might need more than one charger, or a car charger, if you don't have opportunities to recharge during the day. You can get mains plugs for USB chargers. All this stuff is available for less than you spend on fags.
Cig-a-likes in general are a bit frowned upon - they're relatively more expensive and don't usually deliver. There are better alternatives for most people, so it's a good idea to upgrade.
But part of the price of dumping combustion products (tar etc) is a certain amount of faff, which can be controlled but not eliminated. Vaping does not match the convenience of buying packs of twenty fags.
Nothing is stopping you from continuing to smoke analogues while you try vaping more seriously. At times when it's not convenient to vape, smoke instead, you've still reduced harm and saved money. It's all good.
I personally prefer vaping anyway, so I don't bother to smoke now. I believe the main secret to this was ensuring that I got enough nicotine through at the beginning - this is a matter of getting the right kit and juice. Now I've reduced the nic a bit.
Final thing is, it's a journey and you'll have questions and some problems along the way (like tastebuds going wild for a bit as they recover), so stick around, explain what you're up to and ask for help if you want it and you'll be helping other newcomers.

Welcome from me too Celia. You've already had lots of good advice and all I would add is don't forget to order some juice (e-liquid) as well! Most vendors do sample sizes or a pick and mix.
