glen how are you getting on with your epetite? I'm so close to pushing the button on the preorder from Vapegeek but I can't find a review on them anywhere. Working perfectly, as you would expect from a genuine dna40 device, I like it that much that hopefully a blue one will be dropping onto my doorstep tomorrow, I can't find any fault with it Hope this helps Cheers Glen

just to mention i have a dna200 woddie custom built by our resident builder @windows for sale at a bargain price in the classies.. forgive my photography.... allaboute-cigarettes.proboards.com/threads/recent/57188tho in responce to your original post a truly future proof mod would be a reliable and popular mechanical mod.. no electronics to go out of date just a simple on/off switch afaik many consider the nemisis mech tube mods a good example avalable via the far east sites for not much more than a tenner

Id class the mech mod more as bullet proof than future proof. Joking aside you cant go wrong with any mod with a legit DNA 40 in it.

Think I will be investing in a mech mod soon as well as I'm a carpenter by trade so want something that will hold up to site abuse I have only encountered vv/vw mods so how they work in comparison? Sorry if the answer is glaringly obvious

Sorry if the answer is glaringly obvious Have a read og hijack's excellent guide first Considerations when using a Mech you need to know about battery safety and that you set your power by the resistance of your coils. I use a DNA30 when DIY etc they are sturdy little buggers in the right mod, be dropped, dropped on, covered in dust & plaster at times.

I think it's more likely to be your changes in vaping habits and styles that is the factor, I have tried sub ohming and it wasn't for me and I have two dna40's but remain unconvinced on temperature control so my dna30 isn't outdated for me as a 1.5ohm coil up to 14.5w is enough to keep me happy with mouth to lung.

vectis that is a really good point as I have already moved away from MTL to direct inhaling and find that the Nauti mini I have, a little restricting now. I'm realising quickly that I don't think there will be any 1 mod or tank to suit my needs...... and that shinyitus may have already taken a hold on me

alexthebear. Get yourself a kanger subohm mini atty. Try that with your istick before you rush to get a fancy all singing and dancing, makes the tea mod. You have enough power in that mod to use the subohm. Really airy for direct inhale. You will notice a big difference over the nautilus. Or if you must get a mod, get the istick 30w TC. For both you will have change from £50. Both are cheap enough to not worry about taking to work.

Was going to stay out of this discussion as I had no DNA experience to offer advice. But I was tagged so did a catch up on what was being said. I'm back to the VW side, now that there are plenty of decent high wattage mods out there, but Mechs are fairly bullet proof. If I was working on a site, I would definitely use a Mech at work, something like the Osmium. Very tough Derelin shell that has a Bakelite feel to it, only not brittle. Would come out fairly unscathed if someone accidentally stomped on it with their size 11 steels. The main difference is, the heat up time of the coil gets slower as you lower the Ohms of the coil. A mech will deliver power equivalent to the remaining battery voltage, so as the battery voltage drops the power to the coil drops with it. Its not as drastic as it sounds, but it does increase the time it takes the coil to heat up, and the vapor does noticeably start to drop off when the battery gets to around 3.6V remaining. The twin 18650 Mechs like the osmium last all day and night with a couple of Samsung 25R's, and still have around 3.8v when you finally go to bed. I am liking the ability to increase the power a little past the Mech norm on my new VW mod and cant wait to try out TC with Ni and Ti wire.(not splashed out a lot as I want to try first and see) Maybe a DNA will be on my list soon as well.

hijack , really appreciate the info. I've been doing so much reading on mechs, vv/vws, rbas, volts, ohms, temp control, sub ohm tanks, clearos and everything else I've been pointed to that my head is spinning a mech is something I will definitely look into as a go to mod in the future but while I'm trying to get my head around self built coils I think I'm going to go with a VW/TC mod. Just seen that the sig tc 75w is only £40 on KoV so may opt for that over the £80 epetite that isn't currently in stock, that leaves me with the 30w istick (that I only paid £20 for) for work so not bothered if it gets damaged. To everyone that has commented, sorry if I seem like I'm jumping about a bit, I am quickly realising how much there is to learn think I may have jumped ahead of myself a bit so not going spend huge money straight off and not make the most of my purchases, having read everything you wonderful lot have put, I now feel I need to learn the process of how to build my own coils and mix my own juice before I go crazy on decent mods (it's so hard when you see so many lovely bits of kit )
