If you've seen my 2 previous threads then you'll know I've been hit by the vaping bug recently and now that I've been off the stinkies for a couple of weeks I would like to keep it that way, FOR GOOD! So I am in the market for a future proof mod to go with the Triton tank I'm awaiting delivery of. I like the look of the sig 75w,vt40 and mvp 3 but I bet there's tons I've missed. I need it too last and it needs to be durable but not massive, as I'm new to vaping I don't know if I want to sub ohm yet and there's a possibility I will get a magma dripper clone so ideally I'd like something that will do everything (if such a thing exsits) budget is sub £100 and preferably much less to keep the OH happy Many thanks P.s current setup is an istick 30w with Nautilus mini

It's difficult to future proof as there's new stuff coming out every couple of months. I guess theres a big difference between needing a new mod and wanting one.
Perhaps you should consider a DNA200 mod, should keep you going for a while and they're generally around £100.

Unless, like me, you are bitten by the "That is sooooo cool/pretty and I really want/need that in my life" bug, the Sigelei 75 should meet your needs for the foreseeable future with 75 watts, temperature control and replaceable battery.

Honestly, innovations in vaping jump in leaps and bounds - something 6 months old can be outdated For future proofing, what we often call 'Armageddon gear' you may be better with rebuildable (unbreakable) atomisers/drippers and a mechanical mod, as its the sort of gear that cant go wrong, I think we all have a bit of vape gear stashed aside for a rainy day like that!

I'd say this is a want more so than an absolute need but I like the idea of having 2 permanent setups as I jump from flavour to flavour A LOT at the moment. Suppose I'm less worried about future proof but more something that will last me.

If there is such a thing as future-proof then the Whiteout by Cloudmaker is probably going to be the closest thing. Every component on it is supposedly replaceable, panels, buttons, chip, battery sled etc it's completely modular. cloudmakertech.com/

"shinyitus"? Yep got that already laughing:smiley Problem is my mind says "wow that looks cool" and my bank balance says "no, no it doesn't" The sig does look great, is there any I've missed though?

Agree with Greg the DNA200 is the most future proof by a long way ATM as you can load the temperature data for any wire or combination of wire even if no one has thought of vaping with it and it's very high power that you may or may not grow into. IMO It's is the best board by a long way to and as no other manufacture has bettered the DNA40 yet it should stay at the top of the pile for quite some time. But who knows what the future holds, it will be bettered at some point.

Something like the Istick 40w TC should be good for a while, and if you do go into sub ohm it's good for that as well. You could change to a different atty such as the new Eleaf GS air which has both kanthal and Ni200 coils available should you want to use the TC. But as Greg says, there is no such thing as a future proofed mod. A lot depends on how you vape. I got into sub ohm, but have gone back to regular mouth to lung vaping on the whole, with maybe an evening session on the sub ohm. Horses for courses I guess. But don't rush to spend lots of bucks too soon. What you have should keep you off the analogs for good. Try a few different juice flavours. I found that my tastes changed after a couple of months vaping. What I liked at the beginning didn't taste the same, so tried a few others to see what was on offer. Now I have loads of part used bottles, but at least they cost way less than a packet of fags.

The firmware is supposedly user configurable but i haven't seen the software yet or what exactly you can customize.

Get Off My Cloud that looks fantastic! Might hold off for the first ones to come out and for them to sort any 'bugs' they may come across but that's exactly what I'm after cheers

Bobsbeer great advice, I do have a very addictive nature and if I get into something I go whole hog straight away! I am finding with the Nautilus that even the biggest air hole is quite restricting for direct lungs full which is why I have the triton on order (a recommendation from the friend that got me onto vaping) and I would like to try it sub ohm hence the new mod this will be the last hardware purchase I make for a while so it needs to be a good one.

Probably be good as from a proper vaper run company it will have a focus on vape quality and well done them for making it open source, but being it's their fist go at it and they will not have the production facilities to complete with people like Evolv and I doubt it will be able to complete with the DNA. Software and hardware engineering are iterative processes and companies that have already solved parts of the problem before will be at an advantage. EG Evolv have had real-time power control since the Darwin so that is just a building block for later designs. But YiHi and their satellite brands like Pioneer for U have never seemed to get it to work and have to have that strange power-blast then measure resistance until temo drops below the limit and power blast again cycle in temp mode. I think the cloners got past it as they don't care about the patents. Cloudmaker will need some luck to get future proof hardware, this is not just about skill it is the experience gained from previous generations of product, but the OS firmware sounds promising, time will tell.
