Politics & Religion Board & Group

I have set up a new board for Political & Religious topics.

To access the board, members need to opt in to joining the Politics & Religion group by requesting to join the group. To do so, click on your profile, then click on the "Groups" tab. On the next page you will see the group listed - click on request to join. A member of staff will then review your request.

If your request is granted, the group name will appear under your user name in your profile. If you would prefer this not to be displayed, click on your profile > edit profile > settings. Then scroll down to  "Select which group you want displayed in your profile" choose none - unless you are already in another group such as vendor. Mod Maker etc, then choose that group.

This board & group have been set up to take away heated discussions, that many members don't want to see/be involved with. However, the forum rules still apply & so do Proboards TOS.

Over the next few days, we will be moving any already posted topics of this nature into the new board. We will let the creator of the topic know the thread has been moved, but they will have to request to join the group, to continue posting on the moved thread.

If you need any further help joining the group, don't hesitate asking on this thread.

Chrissie... I'm not sure, yet, whether I want to join this group... BUT... just wanted to thank you for setting it up.

This forum has grown so much from being just a 'vaping' community to being a virtual 'family', where members can expose their innermost thoughts and beliefs without fear.

It's become a place where people can let off steam, say stupid things (but still be slapped down in a responsible way), but know that 'our fellow' members are looking out for us.

'Vaping' is the main focus, saving lives, but this place has grown into so much more... a 'safe virtual haven' we can go to when needed for whatever concerns us.

I'm like you there Raffles & Chrissie I generally like to steer clear of these subjects on-line, but have been known to wade in when I feel strongly. The context is a bit juxtaposition here as we are a shared interest community, although most people manage to stay respectful and civil on the debates I have read.

Probably a good idea. I too see this place as more than just vaping. Yes we are all vaping geeks, well okay I am, but we also live in the real world, where other shit happens outside of eurocrats making life hard for us vapers. So having somewhere to discuss is a good idea.

While I don't have a problem with 'Politics & Religion' being shown on my profile, as I can be a gobby bar steward when wound up by Cameron et al; could we not have 'and talks crap about vaping occasionally' as well? I do contribute to other subjects on the odd occasion.

Can I suggest that threads relating to the TPD and any other attempts at legislating vaping are kept in the general area of the forum and not in this new group. Although the topic is 'political' it's in everyone's interest to be able to read about it here.

Good point, but I am sure that was the intention all along and hope that if that stuff gets erroneously posted in there it is moved into the current section by the shes that must be obeyed.

I'm glad you have to ask......With all the politics & recent economic refugee rubbish thats going on at the moment .......I'm steering well clear of that one.....cant afford a new laptop right now ! lol

There are no plans to move any of these OneDay . . . . for the obvious reasons that you state.

Good idea, I come here to talk vaping and banter, not to upset anyone but can't help but sometimes commentting on religion and politics when I read...... So for that reason I'm out.

It'll be strange belonging to a forum & not contributing to a board, but, taking into account my total lack of interest/belief in both subjects, I shall be absconding from it..... However, I wish all those participating in it, the very best & look forward to hearing about who has fallen out with who & who has left/been banned from the forum....................................

We can only endeavour with the best of intentions Chris to keep as many Members as possible enjoying and participating in the forum.

Our new Board we didn't anticipate being for everyone and why should it when we all enjoy activities that have specific interests for us as individuals.

Neither is there a need for anyone to fall out or be banned if topics are debated in a mature fashion. Forum and Proboards Rules apply to this Board as much as any other.

I realise your post has a tongue in cheek/humourous edge to it . . . . the intention is to clarify how we envisage it's place within our forum.
