Hi all
im asking on behalf of my son in law who really, really needs to kick the habit!
ive lent him my Emow head and large spinner battery and 24mg juice to try and he's getting on okay with that.
i think he would benefit from one of those units that plume the vape like no ones business and have a large battery. They are quite masculine so I've never bothered with them myself.
What am I describing? What would be the go to unit?
What would you recommend?
Thanks!

you could try an istick 40w TC with a kanger Sub ohm mini. That wouldn't be too expensive. Of course the higher vg juice will make more clouds whatever the unit.

Hi molly, if he is managing with the set up you've given him, then I would encourage him to stick with it meantime. Have a good look around, there are bucket loads of decent devices on the market at this time and that number is increasing daily. For a device it depends whether his preference is a fixed battery or one that you can swap out, but quite a few have the option of usb charging as well as being able to swap it out if need be. Tank wise, maybe a sub tank mini which can be used with a 1.2 ohm pre made coil with the option to rebuild in due course or coming down to 0.5 ohm pre made coil. Remember too, if he moves onto a sub tank or something similar then its almost guaranteed he will need to drop down a fair bit from 24mg nic strength. You may think that he'll benefit from a more powerful set up and cloud chasing tank, but then again he may not, the last thing you want to do is get him a set up that gives him a bad experience and it puts him off and pushes him back to the stinkies. Congratulations on at least getting him to try vaping and good luck with getting him to carry on. I know I haven't really suggested any device but if you give us a pointer battery wise and an idea of budget if possible, I'm sure there will be lots of others along with recommendations

Budget wise I think anything reasonable. After all if he can afford £14 a day on fags? ....
He needs something that will go some way to replace the smoking pleasure he gets. So something in his hand going to mouth (tick) lots of 'smoke' and 'drag' and a good battery that will last 12 hours.
He's not practical so hardware that is good to go is best. Thanks for help, so far.

Now I think about it, it may be a bit of a leap to the sub ohm type tanks. These are best used with direct lung inhale rather than the mouth to lung you would normally do with a regular cigarette. The sub ohm type are a bit airy to do mouth to lung and you don't feel you get a decent draw. He may be better with something like an Atlantis or Nautilus tank to start with and then look at the sub ohms down the road. This is a Nautilus 5ml so a decent size tank and a good range of coils. They were very popular until the sub ohm's came along, but a good vape and cheap to get. Then get something like a 20w iStick. Both could be got for less than £40 and would last a while till he got into vaping a bit more to know what direction he wanted to go in. The 20w with the Nautilus will last most of the day depending on how much he uses it. Also the higher nic juice will be fine with that.

I'd really advise against the iStick 20w, the 510s are really badly put together. If the istick 20w form factor suits get the 30watt version - it's superior in every way

I agree the 30w version is good. My 20w versions have lasted, one over 9 months now and the other 6 months till it died, but again it depends on how much he wants to spend. My go to mods are the 40w TC iStick version. That can be used for sub ohm later if that's where he wants to go, or would work perfectly with an Nautilus. The Nautilus coils come in a range of ohm ratings. www.fasttech.com/products/3006/10009139/2385402-mini-bottom-vertical-coil-bvc-clearomizer

If budget isn't a consideration as such molly, then I'm going to suggest your SIL gets a sub tank of some description and a Nautilus tank - with a device that can handle both. Choices are good as many of us on here well know! Plus as much as I enjoy subohm vaping, I don't know that I'd want to do it exclusively . . . . he may well also find that when out and about vaping, that the Nautilus and the vapour it creates is a more discreet option to use.

Thank you for all your help. I've noted everything down and suggested he visits a local to him vape shop to try some models out to see what suits. He lives in the centre of London so shouldn't be too difficult!
Thanks again.

I would say just get him one step up that way he has somewhere to go if he finds himself wanting more in a few months, the journey is part of the pleasure.
